D2R runs like a potato and crashes after a minute

I was playing on an old desktop just fine, but it’s not available anymore. I have a newer laptop (not a gaming laptop, but still only a couple years old.) D2R hardly loads a game, textures and effects are just white blobs, and it crashes after about 90 seconds. No crash message or anything, just closes. I lowered every graphical stat I could and it still can’t handle it. If I change it to legacy graphics, it will stay open for a bit longer, but still struggles.

It seems like a graphical error, but I have WoW running at 1980x1080 with no graphical issues or lag.

Laptop has Windows 11 (64 bit), 8gigs of ram, 4 gigs of graphical ram.

Like I said, WoW and Overwatch 2 run well on it, but a game from over 20 years ago just tanks.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Could you list the laptop specifications, such as what specific CPU and graphics chip it has? You can also list the brand and full model # of the system, which is typically found on the bottom of the laptop.

For reference, here are the minimum/recommended system specifications for Diablo II:Resurrected:

It’s a Lenovo yoga 7 15itl5

Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz 2.42 GHz

Graphics: Intel Iris XE

It has a touch screen - I wonder if that has something to do with the way D2R runs. Like maybe it doesn’t know how to deal with it and it’s causing an overload in the memory?

Just so you are aware, the Intel Iris XE integrated graphics performance is below the minimum specified graphics cards for D2:R.

Even though Diablo 2 is a 24 year old game, the enhanced graphics are not. It’s probably working that poor little integrated graphics chip to death. D2:R is known to heat up even the beefiest of graphics cards. That laptop is more for a user that does school or business work, and maybe some lightweight 2D games.

Hmm, that’s surprising still that it can handle some games at decent resolution but others not at all.

Thanks for the info!
