D2R on two computers, same account?

I want to be able to rush my low level character by one of my high level characters. I am assuming I need to buy a separate copy of D2R for each computer, using the same id on battlenet. And I am hoping that I am allowed to run both computers using the same battlenet identity at the same time with each computer running one of my shared characters. Any problems with this?

Yes there are problems with that. You can only have one D2R license per Bnet account. It does not work like old D2 (2000).

In order to play multiple instances of D2R you would need to buy the game on another Battlenet account and run that on your other PC. So, you would have two different identities and would not have the shared stash - but if in the same game you can trade.

You would also want to be careful not to run into the multiboxing restrictions. They applied them to WoW, but given the Bnet monitoring is the same you would want to be careful to not use any boxing software or hardware to streamline it.

That’s big restriction vs LOD. There, I can have 5 different computers on at the same time and rush four of my low level chars at the same time. I am disappointed. I was hoping I could use different computers to run the same characters at different times. But I have to have different sets of characters for each computer.

I think they outlawed ISBoxer for wow but. I used it back on d3 to feed my main I own 4 copies of d3!

Can I use isboxer for D2R??? I have no issue buying the game 7 times

Can I switch id’s between computers? So, one day I’m using my original battlenet id on computer 1 and then switch to use my 2nd id on that computer another day. Or is the battlenet id embedded in the software that is downloaded to each computer?

I would not do it. While the article in question specifies WoW, Blizzard anti cheat software tends to be kind of broadly applied. If you do, it would be at your own risk and you need to understand you can risk the license doing that.

Yes, you can put D2R on as many computers as you want. You can log in to ANY computer with D2R on it with your Bnet account and play your online chars from anywhere. The license is tied to your Bnet account, not the PC.

Your Bnet account is like a key ring. It has the keys to the game and you can use it on any PC or device to install and play games you have keys for. You just can’t use the same Bnet account on two devices at the same time.

It is pretty cool. I keep my Blizz games on an external backup drive to make changing PCs really fast.

  • Download to PC 1.
  • Copy to external drive
  • Copy game to PC 2 in the proper location
  • Install Bnet Launcher to PC 2 - log in with Bnet account and play.

That should help significantly with any internet download restrictions you have as well.

No you can’t, you would need a cd key for each game. Just like you would need an account for each one now.

Old one works the same way. I even opened a ticket back then because of wanting to buy and add a 2nd D2 license some years ago, and I was told to create a new BNet account.

When it comes to adding keys to your Bnet account, yes.
BUT old D2 (2000) did not use your Bnet account to launch and play.

Your D2 (2000) key lets you make multiple “accounts” under that key on old Bnet which gave you basically unlimited chars as long as you remembered to go refresh them all.

Now that we are actually launching and logging in with the Bnet account we can’t make those sub accounts off the same key.

Yes that is fine, but what about my situation. I purchased and installed D2R on my laptop, but it doesn’t play well there…and so I want to delete it from my laptop and install it on my pc, which is much faster and better to play the game on…how can I do this??

Easy. You can install D2R on as many PCs as you want. You only access it from one PC at a time though. I have it on laptop and desktop.

  1. Download the Blizzard Desktop Launcher on the other PC. Download Battle.net for Windows and Mac | Battle.net
  2. Login with your same Bnet Account email/password.
  3. Navigate to the D2R game via the All Games list or your Favorites tab.
  4. Click Install. That will download and install the game

OR

You can copy the game files from your laptop to an external drive, then copy them to the same place on the other PC. That saves you a 30GB download. Default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II Resurrected Just copy the whole Diablo II resurrected folder onto the drive, then drop it on the other PC. If the launcher gets confused, you can use the browse function in the launcher to locate wherever you put the game folder on the other PC.

 just let me put my CD keys in my desktop shortcuts like the good old days. I’m trying to enchant my low level characters.

Thanks very much!! I will give it a go…Steve

i emailed blizz about this and this is the response i got:

Generally speaking you can run and own as many Diablo 2 R as you like. The problem however is how you are playing and controlling those.

Please be aware that no multiboxing in any shape or form is allowed.
