D2R on steam soon?

Since D4 is now confirmed to be on Steam…when will D2R follow?

Possibly, we’ll see. It’d be cool to have more people play the game even if the vast majority have already bought and played it on Bnet.

Having the ability to see my playing hours in the steam library would make me buy D2R there again

Also, I have D2R on steam Deck with Windows 10. But it is kinda klunky, and I would love to have some official support as well.

Anyone, like you said. Bigger audience is always good for a game.

yeah honestly the only reason i would get it again would be for better Steam Deck support so we don’t have to add bnet the wonky way.

For instance, I cannot use the steam overlay keyboard in D2R on steam deck. Having an actual Steam support would probably resolve that issue. Really a pain if you cannot search for game names without a physical keyboard.

i’d imagine it has something to do with running win10 on the device, maybe? i stick with SteamOS and i guess i haven’t noticed / haven’t had this issue myself

I tried it with SteamOS at first, using Proton, but that was not working quite well to be honest. Now I just installed Win10, and I will check tomorrow.

In any case, thanks for letting me know, it should actually work on Steam OS.

good luck! i admit, it is a hassle getting bnet going on SteamOS at first but after the few miserable moments (trying to sign in the first time), runs like a charm afterwards

Isn’t steam the place where Blizzard games go to die?

I hope it won’t. I don’t want to pay for the same game again, just on a different platform. This is a cancer of modern games.

The don’t need no help to kill their own game.
Once they release their game there is only 1 way forward → Death.
They either fail at making the game in the first place OR fail at engaging with the community when they actually make a good game that last for over 20+ years.

Who would force you to buy it again on steam?
If you do not…just don’t. You already have it on Bnet.
But some folks would like to have it on steam, like myself.

having it on steam isn’t going to make the devs care more. i don’t understand what the difference would be.

Actually it’ll be worse. Yet another version to maintain, rather than focusing on fixes and new content.

What version???
You still launch Bnet.

Its just disrespectul when Di D3 and D4 get so much attention yest d2r, probably the most important IP in the franchise gets no attention this season.

Support for Steam achievements, friends list, inviting them to party won’t code itself.

And you think these steam related stuff is any issue…?
Indie games can do that with ease nowadays.

btw: you completely forget, than Steam would again increase the D2R sales. Thus, there would be a reason to invest 100 dollars into achievements and co.
