I have read through the system requirements for D2R and found the minimum OS version is WIN10. I run my D3 on win7 almost every day.
Has anyone been able to run on WIN7 or is it truly locked to that junk @$$ WIN10? I relay don’t want to have update a working ( with no issues ) OS to be able to play.
Windows 7 is no longer a supported operating system but on paper it should run fine.
Also keep in mind as a technician the windows 10 upgrade for free still works with windows 7 computers. All you need is a bootable windows 10 flash drive you can download for free from microsoft.
I know many people won’t go to windows 10 for various privacy reason etc but if money is the only barrier for you just know that you can do it for free.
Money is not the only issue, I have a company provided win10 laptop that I HAVE to use for work and WIN10 is the most user UN friendly OS i have used.
I am having the same issue as many other players are having, I meet all the requirements ( Except OS )
I press ( play ) on the battlenet App, a black window opens up than closes. a new window pops up saying ( the application encountered an unexpected error. ) I even went to the game.exe file and gave it admin rights and the same thing happens
I would not be surprised if software compatibility is purposefully being broken with windows 7 as a way to strong arm windows 7 users over to the new operating system and it’s something you should expect as time continues on for the unsupported OS. Blizzard may not even offer official support. They state the minimum requirement as being windows 10. So now I’m really curious what the 5 or 10 windows 8 or 8.1 users are experiencing.

Well I can officially say it is not a software compatibility issue. just finished installing it on a win10 PC with almost identical hardware and I am getting the same start up failure.
Honestly right now the game is not even functional even though I can launch it. I got a javazon to act 4 and now it’s disappeared from my character selection menu and when I join the game with a new character I cannot select skills as I unlock them so I’m stuck doing regular attacks. I’d try again in a few months when they finish the public beta test.

if you have a slightly older CPU, that doesnt have the AVX instuction set in it, then you have the same prob as the ones in this link AVX Issues / Game Launches, then Crashes on Older Processors (CPU) - #3233 by TioLucho-2854,

The game runs on windows 7 for me .
How’d you do it? I installed Windows 10 to a separate harddrive just to play
Ya unsure how he got it running. Mine didn’t work on my win 8.1 desktop. Had to forego the PC version.
I had the same problem with Total War Rome Remastered. After much digging there is apparently a .dll file that only windows 10 has. I guess you could in theory copy it to the specific directory in 7…
If his is working it may be related to drivers. 10 autoloads anything it can, so maybe all these new devs using 10 and no caring about “unsupported” OSes are just relying on 10 autoloading certain drivers. It’s only certain games though, so at some point I feel like it’s too much work for them to go back through all the code that references a certain library common to 10 but not earlier systems.
