So what is the current thinking on when the first ladder season will begin? All I’ve heard is early 2022 January/February with little to nothing in the way official start date updates from Blizzard.
I am not a serious gamer in the slightest, and so have little frame of reference of the time span between a PTR and a ladder start.

Seeing’s they terrible in letting us know anything. They are going to prolong the date, so we sit here and beg for new ladder.

"A quick update on some of our PTR timings going forward.
We are expecting to take down PTR here in the next week or so after people get their hands on the existing changes. We do plan on putting PTR back up sometime afterwards as we do plan on doing some ladder testing and we encourage people to hop on to try it out as the team wants to ensure a smooth ladder launch after 2.4 launches.
We expect additional balance changes to occur during this ladder PTR update as well. This will most likely be our last PTR phase before launch, but as usual there will most likely be final balance changes that will hit with 2.4 when it goes live.

So, they’ll take the PTR down next week(between Feb 7-11). Then, bring PTR back up for Ladder testing probably the week after(between Feb 14-18). Probably last another 2 weeks like current PTR(Jan 25-Feb 7-11) so that’ll be Feb 14-18 to Feb 28-Mar 4. More than likely that puts patch 2.4 live release along with Ladder season 1 starting the week of Mar 7-11, or Mar 14-18.

Guessing 2 maybe 3 more weeks of PTR judging by the latest blue post as there’s another wave of changes slated for next week.

Blizzard, Activision, and now Microsoft. This whole thing is BS. It seems that they are stalling for time and then have some big announcement that Diablo 4 is ready and after a lot of time and consideration there will be no more diablo 2 or 3. And if you can sign up now they will give you a special deal on Diablo 4. Meanwhile you can watch your favorite upcoming stars on U tube. This whole thing has had scam written all over it from the beginning.
Yes I have cancer and got duped right from the very beginning. Been playing Diablo 2 LOD since 2001 and every year something would come up at work or with life and I couldn’t participate in the ladder from start to finish. So I was really hoping they were really going to do it. My first tip off should have been that they were going to get rid of the bugs before releasing the ladder. Diablo has always had bugs and it probably always will.
I am still hoping that they will release the ladder but my hopes are getting dimmer. This will be the only game in history that remastered the players instead of the game. It has been a boom for YouTube.

hopefully in april we will have the last update of the rpt.
Then two weeks of rpt to test the ladder (maybe with new 0,5% sinergy for any random skill)
Later, one more to test the gem button.
and perhaps another one to analyze a possible change of gender in the barbarian, with a previous survey of mrllama.
And then, ladder will ready

I would have had some respect for these people if they would have just released the ladder since day one.
I think it has cost them the one thing that in the long run is worse than money and that is repeat customers and customer loyalty.
Too bad that I rather play a game with a ladder than to watch YouTube all day. They have done a pretty good job on YouTube.
But my personal opinion is D2 R =Diablo 2 wReckage!

Some time after 2.4, which will also be released in some time “soon”. If we’re lucky, early March. If it’s Blizzard’s “soon”, who knows. Pretty ****ing insane that we will soon be at 6 months since the game released and still waiting on a ladder.

there’s a saying that i feel would be approriate i can’t say here, but it’s something like pooping the bed. yes. that is what blizzard has done with d2:r.

That why they don’t create the best work any more. To busy worrying about things that have nothing to do with gaming.
April has a good look for ladder as a Q2 release, then Q3 ladder reset, then Q4 ladder reset. This is my speculation, nothing I presume is fact.
This is absurd.
They promised a ladder “close to launch” which made playing D2R before ladder start absolutely moronic. But then they keep pushing it later and later… now we could´ve been playing this game for half a year if they had not made false promises…
All they wouldve needed to do was to say "Ladder wont start until Q1 2022, then we couldve played D2R from release and be dedicated.
They absolutely ruined this launch…
