As seen here, this user has brought to light a very concerning issue regarding public computer rental game place things… ( I really have no idea what to call these… LAN Gaming Centers? Dunno… )
They will be receiving a seemingly permanent 25% global buff to Non-Ladder characters to Magic Find and Gold Find.
The issue here is that we’re all on one global server and if they’ll able to play amongst us that don’t use those game centers, it could present a power gap in the ability to find items. While 25% may seem like a little, at the end game that could potentially mean they could drop an item or two for much more effective gear while MF running.
I don’t feel this should be allowed because it will just pave way for potential P2W aspects later on if they’re willing to do this. Keep money/business out of Diablo 2’s gameplay. It has no place there. Whether or not it is a third party or Blizzard themselves.
Yeah, this shouldn’t be happening because servers are global now. If it was contained to just Korean players, then whatever, but this is an unfair advantage to some.
From my understanding, they likely modified the game’s base code to allow global buffs, similar to what modders achieved in full conversion mods of D2LOD, and Blizzard and Korea have a very special relationship thanks to ESports and Starcraft.
Right, they could’ve modified the drop tables themselves, but from what it looks like here is that they modified what the game can do at the client level, giving tangible modifications similar to shrine buffs.
It is exactly this. Companies like Blizzard will work out ‘promo deals’ like this where they know if they give Korean PC bang shops exclusives, it means more cash to Blizzard.
Blizzard stop this madness, I won’t buy D4 if you keep this crap up, that’s for certain.
Yeah this is terrible.
I wish Blizzard removed this, but I’m also not too concerned about it. At least we know it won’t be bots. Anyways, this isn’t unfair for other players and it should be removed.
I’ve traveled to Korea several times so I know this isn’t true. The rates are usually between $ 1.00 - $ 2.00. Also, you have to purchase the game to play the game through your own account.
Look at what we know so far:
1: Ladder length reduction
2: This news about Korea game centers getting non-ladder boosts. So we KNOW they have the capability of doing it for a group of players.
3: A large number of the original games players work, have families, etc… So they don’t have 6+ hours every day like they did when they were teenagers to play the game.
4: (Hopefully) Bots are eliminated.
It spells an increase in game progression speed to me.
I sincerely hope it is just a promotional thing to kickstart the Korean gaming community… but on that note, I feel it could continue a trend later on, which needs to not happen.
So they get bonus mf for playing the same game and paying the same price? I need to know where the option in my account is to change to a “game center”. Yeah something like this really shouldn’t exist. Even if you were doing some sort of promotional thing, a visual at most (temporary cloak) or something that doesn’t affect progression in game. This is basically p2w and granting bonus items.
How are we starting off on equal footing in competitive play when certain locations are receiving hidden buffs?
