D2R is unplayable crash, crash and crash again

I got D2R and the game keeps crashing, it crashes when i try to change acts, it crashes when i try to save and exit, and some times it ceashes when i try to use tp.
All this is hapening in single player.

Happens in MP too, only thing different is in MP you get sent back into the Queue

Me2. Constant crashes to dekstop, with nothing critical in the log. Mine seems to have a high chance of crashing whenever something new is loaded in, e.g. NPC voice lines like Andariel, Blood Raven, The Summoner in Arcane Sanctuary, etc., and when using portals or otherwise changing area. I’m guessing it’s due to running out of RAM, but other games seems to be able to “siphon” stale memory from the operating system to use, or unload something from the game, instead of crashing. My system is sitting on 8GB of used RAM, so the game has about 8GB free to use. If that’s not enough, I don’t think it’s fair to have 16GB be the recommended RAM requirement, let alone have 8GB be the minimum requirements.

For the record, this is what I’m seeing in my log immediately before crashing, which looks kind of normal for a log for portaling from Mephisto to Kurast, considering that I’m seeing the same lines several times in the log at different timestamps over several minutes of play:

all games work like a charm, except for diablo. and the problem are my apps

They should submit D2R program code to universities and tech schools as a prime example of how not to do programming.

mine is crashing each time I hit a load screen. Anyone have a tip?

Yes. Close your browser and any other things that use your VRAM and RAM. After running heavy programs, I find rebooting alleviates a lot of my crashes. I think they’re not managing well when the system runs out of ready-to-use-RAM.

Also, changing to Medium settings made a lot of the load-crashes go away, and I’m thinking that’s because of this RAM / VRAM thing.

D2R almost never crashes for me. It’s likely a memory issue, not having enough available for the game to run for y’all.

My game crashed 1 in 5 times. Usually when opening a chest or stash.
Just freezes up my whole system.

Please ppl, try to assign virtual memory in your windows disk. This solved all the crashes for me.

  • Is not enough assigning 2gb or similar, I had to assign as much as real RAM I got to stop the crashes.
