D2R Bots, blizzard not doing anything about it

Dear Blizzard,

I know you are a very small company and it might be hard puting some human ressources on trying to ban botters. (End of sarcasm) Just for your information, there are thousand of botters, and even botting farms. Computers running 10-15 clients botting 24/7. There os no point trying to farm good items by ourselves.
Funny thing you said before D2R launch was, there wont be bots. My a**.

This company sucks and your game is wasted by botters.

I had to rage quit after 90 minute of gaming today because there were 4 bots leeching XP in the baal game i was hosting/teleporting in.

it’s really, really disgusting. it’s so disheartening to play this game when you aren’t even playing with real people.

i think i’ll try hardcore and hope there are less bots there.

will probably lose my characters every few days to CTD and server disconnects.

Why not? Its a game. If u dont like farming why u playing? There isnt anything else in d2r than farming so.

As far as i know they putting resources to deal with cheaters. U shouldnt expect that there be no cheaters though as that is not realistic.

Who said that? I cant recall that the devs said there wont be bots. And i doubt there was anyone who believed that there werent gonna be bots.

Calm down and go outside. No need to be angry. I dont see any issue with botters. There is no competition anyway.

You realise we re all trying to grind the game to get goods to trade? Meanwhile bots crashing the economy so the ber rune youve been farming for weeks is now worth very low.

And yes blizz said with their new battlenet there will have no bots, in a conference before launch.

Whatd wrong with you ? You re the only one not agreeing about bots ruining the game, stick your head out of your butt.

I would just like to hear from Blizzard on their stance with botters and if they are doing anything differently currently in D2R to catch these guys. Maybe they don’t say anything to prevent a gap for botters to better identify holes? Either way, I would love to see this addressed. It’s so blatantly obvious at times and it really is disgusting. I don’t get worked up about it but I hope they are more serious about bots in D2R. They may be, but I just don’t know because they never address it. Anything, Blizzard?

Well to me a Ber rune is worth exactly… 1 Ber rune.

Stop trying to play the “keeping up with the Jones” mini game, and play the game to enjoy it.

Not all. Some of u might see the game as a trading simulator. U can do that on ebay, trade goods for goods. Im playing to gear myself up. Killing monsters for loot. Thats the core according to blizzard. Also u still get gears u can trade if u want.

So is everything else. BER still worth more than alot of items. It also means u can get the items u want cheaper. Obv if u gonna sell it for real money then yeah it would hurt your profit. But thats against tos anyway.

Could u link source? I havnt heard them saying there wont be any bots. I only recall them saying its going to make it harder for bots to get in or something along these lines.

So why u need to make a thread about it trying convince ppl there are thousands of bots etc? And no im not the only one who couldnt care less if there are bots or not. The economy would get affected by d2jsp anyway.

Its not in my butt to begin with. No clue why u being so emotional. The game plays the same if there are bots or no bots. I dont have the same emotional connection to ingame pixels like u do. For me its only items which could potentially make my character stronger. Again go outside and take some fresh air. Maybe then u realise that the made up values on pixels doesnt matter to the core game.

You’re so narrow minded. To me a Ber rune is also worth a Ber rune but they’re not equally weighted in terms of time and effort.

Imagine you worked for a company for 8 hours a day while your co-worker with exact same title and responsibilities is making 4 times your salary doing absolutely nothing while staying at home. You tell the boss but nothing will be done and in fact there are a minority group that are against you because a dollar you earned is equal to your co-worker’s hard earned dollar in terms of value and you’re overreacting. This is what’s happening in D2R with bots taking over. Eventually it will come to a point where if you don’t bot, you aren’t playing Diablo just like how it used to be 20 years ago. I’m fine with ppl not caring if there are bots in the game but when they start belittling or denouncing players that are against bots, it’s a whole new level of stupidity.

If I took the job at those wages them I’d have no issue with it. Believe it or not some people at significantly less focused on what others have. I don’t think entitlement is a good personality trait personally.

You’re not making much sense here. I agree with you but weren’t you supporting entitlement? Entitlement to botters and shut everyone else down who thinks its unfair? Good job.

I agree nothing is being done.

I’m not sure if you know what that word means. Nor does it look like you read anything I posted.

No, they did not say that. There is no way to prevent people from trying to make bots that run on their computers to control chars in game. They can, and do TRY, but they won’t get them all.

Rewatched the BlizzConline 2021 - Diablo II: Resurrected Deep Dive video, and Andre Abrahamian did say they have a server team working on combating bots, and dupes. As far as if they are going to be monitoring 24/7, or majority of the time they didn’t say, but at least they mentioned a “server team”!

BlizzConline 2021 - Diablo II: Resurrected Deep Dive

Start 43:32

MrLlamaSC: “One thing, shifting back to the online play here, I know there’s definitely going to be questions around security. How are we handling duping? How are we handling bots? How are we handling, you know, just anything around that, round-downs, and all of the disconnects and all of that good stuff that we deal with online. What’s being taken, or what action is being taken there?”

Rob Gallerani: “So, moving over to modern Battle.net helps us with a lot of those types of things. To say it’s, you know, lock-tight, I wouldn’t dare do that. That’s like throwing a gauntlet down to the community to try to break it. But all of that should be far more secure now. Now, we do still allow you to play offline, right? You will need to authenticate that your copy is legit, but after that you won’t be bothered. And so, there’s a reason why we leave those characters quarantined away from online.”

Andre Abrahamian: “I mean, yeah, we have a server team working on it and these are some of their efforts. We want to stop the bots, stop duping as much as possible. There’s a lot of strides happening in the back end of things.”

Actually bots are the only thing why I stopped playing original d2 and Im not playing d2r any further. They take away the joy of finding items and grinding. Cheaters killed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and will kill this game as well.

Game is not working as intended and Valve in Dota 2 has created almost perfect system. You can find already working solutions out there. A simple report system. You report a bot. Then the account is checked and if its using bot or any patterns(scripts), account is immediately banned. But what is most important. Games are recorded and can be checke for cheats.

Another genius idea that Valve introduced is their market. You can buy items through valve store and marketplace where everyone can sell. But its impossible to transfer real money outside of marketplace and its genius. All of these online shops would become useless.

Also there is a small % that Valve takes from every transaction. You can transfer money inside steam wallet but not outside. And this system makes it both good for the company and players. They can sell their items on market as well. Everyone can do this.

Steam market is only an example but mostly its their report system and behaviour score measure that makes the system so good. Everyone can report a bot and its behaviour score is lowered. If the account is checked and banned you get your report back rdy to use. You have 3 reports to use in total to prevent report spamming, so people use it wisely when they are almost sure they deal with a cheater (or just bad behaviour guy).
