D2R boring? Well yes, but actually no

OK, so I am seeing many people complaining about D2 being boring, but I also see them posting about how they have all max gear and finished Hell in 2 days, yadda yadda.
And ya, you can do that in normal mode, and it is kinda boring.

So I am just gonna make a suggestion to anyone that is bored and has only played normal.
Play Hardcore.
It will change everything you know. Ya, the servers suck, and they might kill you, but that is actually pretty rare.
Playing HC completely changes the intensity of the game, it changes the chances you take, how you farm, where you farm, whether you dare to go solo or only play with friends (especially once you get to hell).

I have a normal Sorc in Hell at level 32. Yes, it is possible to get to Hell that low level if you have a friend to kill Baal that has the quest while you’re in town in Act 5.

I have a level 81 Druid on HC with over 4k health and max resists, and I won’t play through Act 1 alone.

The experiences are nothing alike, it feels like a completely different game. One bad teleport into Stygian Dolls, dead. Lancers rush with the wrong auras, dead. So many things, dead. You have to play like your life depends on every seconds attention, because it does in Hell.

So just try it. I keep seeing players refuse to give it a go, but then say they are bored with the game.
That’s what happens when your mistakes have zero consequences. You die, oh well, log out and back in, grab your gear and start over. GTG in 10 seconds. HC will fix that bored mentality and replace it with joy, rage, frustration, anxiety, and adrenaline sometimes all at the same time.

For me, the only time this game gets boring is when I’m playing with zero …

magic find.

Yeah but the server issues make it very risky. And single player Is basically like cheating. When you can institute /players 8, have the same map every single run, and easily get any hiring you want by just opening the LK chests enough times…eh, I don’t have any pride in the character.

Yes I could just put artificial limits on myself and gameplay, but it’s hard for a min/max player to do that and feel fulfilled. Maybe as a novelty here and there.

I agree with the server issues, they are more deadly than any mob in the game.
By single players, you mean Offline mode? Ya that is pointless imo, unless you are actually somewhere without internet I guess. I’ve never used it on D2R. I used it a lot on the original because I was a truck driver 20 years ago and internet on the road wasn’t a thing then.

I played HC with friends for years as there were fewer bots but in D2R playing HC is just stupid. Crashes, lags and super long loading screens will result in RIP message.

I have a hard enough time dealing with death in soft core…lol.

Hardcore online on the actual servers ? LOL yeah great way to waste time.

Offline tho can be ok if hardcore is your thing…

As long as there are Undead Stygian Dolls in this game, I will not be attempting to play HC.

But I totally get the sentiment of the OP and HC can surely breathe life back into a game you’re getting bored with. I have two Hard Core D3 characters. The fact that I made it to paragon levels is a testament to how easy D3 is in that regard, as I am by no means a skilled player.
