The best thing about d2 is it is not d4. But really, two games defined the arpg genre. Gauntlet and Diablo II. Diablo II is still one of the best games ever made and it has never been bested.

Its the game that defined the genre, the king of arpg’s and have yet to find a worthy successor. Although many have tried, noone has ever been able to fully capture the essence of D2 and i have been playing it on and off since release and will always return till the day the servers are shut down. Happy anniversary to the greatest of them all

“Open” trade is a hard feature to beat.
There’s freedom in it. So there are those that will take full advantage.
Not even Blizzard herself is willing to foot the bill to police that “freedom”. Not enough to make it “fear” the decision to anyway.

Diablo 2 is probably legit the best game of all time. If it were single player only, I would only say it’s a great game. But Battle Net 1.0 was a once in a lifetime experience. That was peak gaming. Man that was great gaming. No game today comes close to that experience.

The original Battle.net client and it’s chat rooms combined with Mplayer .net and Kali . net made up the bulk of my younger days in PC gaming.
Playing Diablo 1 and 2 through Battle .net and then Quake II and Duke Nukem 3d on Kali and Mplayer will never be topped for me.

Grats dude. I had a few bad seasons and looked to have another but got jah and ber in the roughly the same 24 hr period. Solo.
In 2003 a gf gave me a copy of D2 and a week later I bought LoD. It got me into gaming. I enjoyed playing Midtown Madness 3 online, Doom 3 and have had a lot of fun playing SC BW, but D2 LoD is the only game I’ve played consistently over the years. It is one of my hobbies, while sometimes it felt like it was a career, one that doesn’t financially reward me.
This isn’t say much, but I have the 5th highest hc barb on the ladder, but I do consider myself #1 due to the other 4 barbs being botters.

except most top player do not in hc. and the #1 barb is a streamer, totally botter. endugu, why are you still here lying about everything (you’re blocked) but seriously… lol

actually i think the two top barbs were both streaming / racing each other the first two weeks, i stopped into majins stream for like 5 minutes and they were talking about how it was fun for both of them, the race that is.
The top hc barb on US West is kitty_barA, then GMC-bo, then kitty_barB, then Giant-LP then me. Kitty has about 3 dozen characters in the top 50. GMC and LP also have several characters in the 90s.
