D2JSP is software (browser) that is not expressly authorized by blizzard which is used in connection with Diablo 2 and it indeed facilitates the gameplay by giving players easy access to any item they want especially since there’s players who use bots on D2JSP and so it’s very easy to trade FG with the botters as soon as they get the item that you need.
Essentially, unless blizzard sanctions a website (Like for example WoWHead is sanctioned because blizzard uses it to show WoW news) then it’s technically against TOS IF and only IF it helps you in game in some way, so a web site that only gives information is okay but a website like D2JSP which allows you to get free items or items for real money is absolutely against TOS.
The only reason blizzard ignores it is because a few years ago (maybe 8 years) blizzard got rid of every single bot in D2. All of them. The spambots and the MF bots. This caused the overall number of players to drop substantially. From around 50000 to 15000 if I recall correctly.
There’s no reason for blizzard to remove bots if it drops the player count so substantially so instead, as soon as the next season began blizzard “reopened the flood gates” and there were immediately tons of spambots and MF bots too. My point is that blizzard can get rid of bots and cheaters if they want but the game doesn’t have that many players so they’d rather leave most bots in so that the player number “seems” higher (while banning some here and there to make it look like they’re trying to get rid of them).
The only reason to get rid of bots and D2JSP would be to improve the actual game but there’s no reason to improve the game if it removes half or more than half of the “players” (even if many of these players are bots)
