There’s no incentive to play D2 classic since the itemization is very limited and so are the builds.
Any possibility we could open up some new cube crafting recipes next season?
Some possible ones:
- Helmet (FCR, Resist, +skill)
- Armor (FCR, Resist, Life/Mana)
- Shield (FCR, Resist, Life/Mana on kill)
- Weapon (100-300% ED, +skill, Mana/Life leech)

Classic gameplay—the same Diablo II you know and love, preserved. "
I think Blizzard meant this quite literally. Aside from some class skill changes, Classic mode has been largely untouched. Meanwhile LoD keeps getting pushed farther into the trash with game breaking powercreep fueling runewords. I thought the above quote meant the same for LoD, boy was I wrong.
So, as far as classic mode… It’s probably a good thing Blizzard hasn’t been tinkering it into the gutter like they have been with LoD.
D2 Classic did get love. It’s called D2R.

Classic has gotten all skill balance changes and a lot of the QOL added to D2R.
I actually greatly prefer the itemization of classic over expansion. There are some balance issues most nostably bowzon still being trash though. Though I’d still prefer things stay the way they are because if they tried to fix it they would probably make it worse. Classic needs 2 things and only 2 things:
#1 The Shared Stash
#2 Bring back Azurewraith Unique Crystal Sword
Blame the devs for that. Classic community has been pushing for the shared stash since day 1 of the game being announced but they refuse to give it us.
I don’t care about the size of stash in classic i just want to have it shared for muling since gomule etc doesn’t exist on console singleplayer.
Kind of useless rolling sorc and getting stuck at travincal in hell and not even being able to mule stuff to alts.
Yeah, I’d be fine with anything like that but the easiest thing to do code wise would be for them to simply say give everyone the same stash regardless of classic/expansion. Thus, if we ever get shared stash (we won’t) that is most likely what we will get.
