Current value of pgems

Any consensus on the current value of pgems, pamys, junk jewels, crafting runes (ral, etc.) and other bulk trade goods?

Seems to be a very erratic, although values seem to have generally gone up recently. A few weeks ago, 40 pgems was a lem. I just sold 40 for an ist, although they seem to be trading in a wide range at the moment - anything from pul to ist for 40.

It is pretty random truth be told
some peeps consider 40p gems Pul some Lem some Ist
kinda weird …

So it’s all over the place, the pgem-value was usually a good dipstick for how volatile trade values are.

yeah this games trade is weird …

Old D2, the trade-standard was based on Ist. hr’s were bought 6-8 ists. It still had a way of dictating price on items below that. Rock-bottom value was based on pgems, then up to pul, then um, and mal. Alot of the time I sold 40 pgems for a hr, ( people offered hr 4 40) and we could pick which one we wanted. Ahh the good old days. Lol

It may still turn out that way.

Runes are constantly being found, used rarely and largely held as currency. Pgems are burned as quickly as they’re found and traded.

Therefore, over time, the supply of runes goes up, while the supply of pgems (and Rals/Pamys/other crafting supplies) stays static. People keep finding ists and holding on to them as currency, while crafting supplies are used as quickly as they’re found. So the value of the crating supplies goes up.

Well i got a batch of 40 perfect gems ready to go: 8 emerald 8 saphire 8 topaz 8 rubies 4 amethists 4 Diamonds:

Speaking of crafting, I have a batch of 40 perf rubies ready to go. I need to get mal for those. I’m finding I have to wait for the right buyer.

the problem i have with Trade is sometimes change … I have a Ohm rune i wanna sell but i dont realy want the items that are normly worth Ohm so you know …

That’s the point of currency. You can easily sell items for them, and use them to buy other items.

With gold having almost no value, it’s down to crafting supplies and runes.

no you missed my point
Yeah runes are easy to buy stuff with but trying to sell them is just Hard to do at times if you want to basicly break it into change

Let me put it like this
I have a 50$ Bill I Go to tacobell they go you can only have 1 item on the menu for the full 50$ you wont get any change back

thats this game basicly. Its EXTREMLY Differcult to break your 50$ into smaller bills

In other words, you need yourself a Rune-daddy. Lol

I Mean Wtf am i going to do with Ohms? I rather have stuff to trade with like Ists/Puls or such lolz

i need an ohm, but I’m not gonna ask, because I don’t have yer change for it. I would do it though, cuz to help is all.

Well, you’re not going to break it into change without some sort of transaction fee. Two Guls is more useful than a Vex, because you can use the two Guls individually, or combine them into a Vex. Previously, Ist usually went for Mal Um, Gul for Ist Mal, Vex for Gul Ist and Ohm for Vex Gul - the higher rune’s worth more, but not double the lower one (until you reach Ber and Jah, which typically have around equal value, with the more valuable one changing from time to time) and Cham and Zod being of much less value, due to limited uses.

Runes Pul and above are never worth less than half the rune above it, because you can combine them to make the next one up. They’re usually worth significantly more, due to the added possibility of using the runes separately. Just about the only exception is Sur → Ber, since Ber is used for so many things and Sur isn’t - Sur is still going to be worth more than half a Ber, but not by much.

I’d expect the value of Ists and other higher runes, as well as items, to go down in time vs pgems and crafting runes. Every day, more and more Shakos, SOJs, Tal’s Armours and high runes are entering circulation and not being used up or sold off (if they’re socketed into an Enigma or similar, the total value only drops a little) but the supply of pgems and crafting runes doesn’t go up, since they’re always being used up. So it might be worth hanging on to those Pgems, amys, Rals and similar for a while - in a few weeks, 40 might regularly get you an Ist or a good item, as the supply of high runes and higher-tier items increases.

Unfortunately, we’re still stuck with Cube recipes and Uber Diablo events based around using up all the duped SoJs. Since they haven’t changed the recipes despite the lack of a huge reservoir of SoJs, they’ve now become impractical.

In the first few weeks of vanilla D2, Silks of the Victor was actually also used as currency…
