ruh-ohs O.O
Don’t you think Set items will be more like D3?, how you gather a bunch of sets as an objective?
Gotta be honest, Always hated the idea of set items along the idea with raids. but I understand how some folks like this aspect of things.
Always felt rotating loot to be boring.
it’s like how netflix rotates the movies available to make it seem like there’s more new stuff then actually exists.
I’m not convinced upgrade will be all that valuable for much other than belts and weapons. Defense already has dubious value so just boosting equip requirements for nothing more than a defense increase isn’t often worth it. I’ll up a vipermagi because you need enough strength for a monarch anyway so why not? You can break it with things like enhanced defense of course, but many things won’t be worth doing.
Aldur’s Battle Boots are another great standalone set item. Upping for a bit more defense and kick power for Sins I guess. 95 -->163 str req though. :o
I hear what you’re sayin.
but vipermagi is a unique item that you can currently upgrade.
this is for the green items not uniques.
the only difference being that you have to occupy multiple equipment slots.
it’s hard to balance set items, as they should know, it’s either OP or garbage. not much wiggle room compared to unique items that sit in a single equipment slot.
for pvp you want everyone with the same equipment… so would be nice to boost pvp sets imo.
the market would take quite a hit with pvp players if everything was a set item easily obtained O.O
I know. I’m just saying most useful uniques I don’t ever bother to upgrade as they aren’t worth the extra requirements just for defense. Usually when I have runes to burn and just want to totally max out. Then it is still just vipermagi and magefists. Weapons, shields, belts are usually worth upping. To a lesser extent, boots for a kicksin. Upped goblin toe or travs.
depends if the upgrade only increases the defense on armors and damage on weapons. Could increase the set bonus too? Never know lol
if the idea is to get folks to use complete sets instead of mixing two sets (because that’s a thing sometimes) could put a different spin on it. Like how folks expected Force Move to be a skill on the click list, but got a hotkey remap instead.
if anything, it will be an interesting case study on what happens when you take a game like Diablo 2 and reboot it. Kinda why i’m here anyways… right? ^.^
The more important thing they mentioned is rebalancing them to make the sets more appealing. Currently, the only full set people wear endgame is Tal’s.
unless they change the sets to give huge build making bonuses no i don’t think so atm sets basically are just uniques that only become good when you have multiple pieces and even then for the vast majority of classes they are practically useless.
i wouldn’t mind being able to up some of the set weapons, they will be underperformers compared to runewords but i don’t mind that.
An upped Aldur’s rhythm might be interesting. Already a solid weapon. Would still need buffed to even compete with other options. I like it as a mid level zealer weapon.
only if they are bad… tal’s 3 piece is okay but to go full set you are losing out on too much dmg and mf. It’s not an endgame set it’s a pre endgame set but yes it is better than just about every other set.
From the announcement page- “New Horadric Cube Recipes being implemented will allow for upgrading the item quality of Set Items to give more item build possibilities. Set Item changes will update underperforming Set Items, to have more bonuses, giving players more incentive to pursue Partial and Full set items that can complement the skill changes alluded above.”
Not as much as you may think. Sure, it is bad for endgame lightning, but you don’t wear any Tal for that anyway. For meteorb, it is a great set. I’ve seen calculations where full Tal is better damage than 3pc for blizzard, at least when compared to the occulus/shako variant. The survivability in early endgame is pretty amazing too. I wouldn’t be turning my nose at it so fast.
That and I totally hate occulus so I usually just go full Tal blizzard until I can afford an infinity. Never had any problems.
