For JMOD, the J portion I think is the important part to the PvPers (Jewelers which gives 4 open sockets). They use it to customize the shield against particular builds.

Thanks. So I’m assuming socket quest would make this 4 sockets right? I’m really unsure

Socket quest on any magical/rares/uniques will give a maximum of 1 socket. Normal/Superior/Ethereal (white/grey) items will get max sockets based on iLevel.
