In this scenario sadly no. Cross play is probably something that would’ve needed done when D2R was initially developed, it’s a shame because it would’ve been a really nice feature and a boon to the player base instead of being split up like it is.
have no idea why we have cross saving but not cross play. And also have no idea why you can’t chat on the console versions.
Also on the topic of consoles, how about a switch 2 upgrade for the switch version with full 8 player support and higher graphics settings? You do get faster load times on switch 2 but other than that there’s no difference.

Well, you could never have 100% crossplay because the Switch only supports 4 characters at once. For everyone else, who knows why they didn’t implement it. At this point, it’s simply not happening.
I think it boiled down to having devices connected through multiple different gaming networks (Xbox/Sony/Nintendo) connecting to Blizzards network in order for it to work. One gaming network may not like the way another gaming network does things, or there may be compatibility issues, so instead of being selective on which one(s) can and can’t crossplay, just don’t allow it.
If Microsoft had owned Blizzard prior to the start of D2:R’s development, I’d bet a dollar that D2:R on Xbox would have been crossplay capable with PC.

You’d think a $25 expansion to a$40 game that is a completely different server build would finally give us cross play.
But nope. I guess that will be in the next $$$ expansion. Or the one after that.
