Crafting portals to secret areas with the Horadric Cube is not something new to D2. So implementing a system on which you can craft customly built areas is pretty fitting for the game. Let’s say, for instance, boss packs eventually dropped different essences that could be mixed up on the Cube to open portals to special, worthwhile to farm areas. Every essence could have different rarities (white, magic, rare, unique) and proprieties, like monster type, terrain type, etc. Depending on the rarity of the essences used to craft the area, it would have better drops, experience, rune find, and so on.
I know this sounds a lot like POE, but it is a very fitting feature to add to the game. I think the majority of players would like this added to the game, and it could make the late game farming much less tedious and repetitive.
no matter what it is, it will all eventually feel repetitive. You think rifts/grifts in D3 didn’t get old and repetitive?
Simplifying the chase removes the enjoyment of accomplishing the hunt.
D3 has its problems, plenty of them, but the grind never feels as repetitive as D2. At least it takes longer for rifts to feel repetitive. D2 late game is very outdated. With this crafting system it would be easier to add new areas and monsters gradually over time to keep the game refreshed now and then.
Basically, the more stuff to do, the longer it takes for players to get bored.
It depends on your taste. D3 is very boring and highly repetitive to me. PoE is just not fun for me. D2/D2R is my perfect ARPG. I love PvP, I love creating obscure builds like Fireclaw druid, Zeal/Enchant Sorc, Kicksin, I love item finding in D2, etc…
Why does this simplify anything? For the contrary, it makes stuff more complex and exciting. Finding unique essences with increased drop rates would be as rare as finding any unique item on the game, and it would not guarantee you would find GG loot.
And more, i’m not suggesting these areas would be mandatory and be the only way to farm optimally. It would be an option for players who want more variety. Just that
Play PoE then if this is what you want. It’s a great feature for games like PoE where it’s a new feature every 3 months, and the game gets so far from what it was, that it’s not even the same game anymore.
But for D2, no that’s not a good thing for this game. This game is about it’s simplistic game play, and long grinds, over and over and over again. It’s only ONCE had content added with an expansion, and never just added anything beyond that. That is what makes D2, D2. If you know it sounds like another game and that’s what you want then play that other game. It’s a win/win that way.
That’s 100% not true. Lots of stuff got added via patches after the expansion’s launch. Runewords, uber diablo event, uber tristran, cube recipes. If the game is so perfect for you, why even bother with Resurrected? Blizzard could make a separated realm for people who love the game the way it was. And make a new Resurrected realm for the majority of players, that would love the game to be improved further. Everybody is happy then.
Longer for rifts to feel repetitive ? Hell i do 10 and i feel like i’ve seen everything they had to offer. Doing Baal run or doing rift ? Same god darn thing if you are asking me. So even if we could craft ‘‘special’’ areas from essences. It also would feel repetitive since anyway you would have to first farm those essences before EVER being able to access these areas.
Also since it’s Diablo 2, they would probably be pretty rare to get lollll
runewords were added for each league or season or what ever you wish to call it. they were not random content added to the game. All of what you are mentioning is not some new content, like what you described, all of those had reasoning behind them, not just added content for the sake of adding some content. Like I said and you said, it’s sounds like PoE, so play PoE.
D3 rifts feel boring because the progression systems of D3 feel boring. Everything is so easy to get and pointless. If this system is added correctly, both baal running and farming these portals would be viable. So when you get bored of doing baal runs, there is something else to do. Farming essences would be an added progression system, something else to do and be excited about. D2 is an amazing game, but it could be so much better if the grind wasn’t so tedious and repetitive. I dont understad why having more stuff to do is bad… seriously (eye roll)
Well maybe because it’s just another crap to farm for no reason than having simply another area. I mean it’s sound all nice on paper, by how you are talking about it, it won’t have any extra drop chance so that’s fine with me.
Will i care enough to do them if they we’re added ? Not really. Clearing an area take more time than simply destroying Baal, diablo or whoever you want to farm at that moment. Part of the reason why i still come back to play is that i still have more stuff to get even after all these years.
I mean, it just seem pointless to me. That’s also why im hoping more modder get in to get some nice conversion mods. Kinda why i was playing Median XL, it change the game a lot lol
