Countess hell diff bugged loot drop?

Just working my way through the game, and I’m up to the countess on hell diff. She was 2 shotting my hireling, so was really careful as she’s extra fast on hell mode it seems. Anyway, killed her. All she dropped was a super mana pot and a nef rune. I’ve done a lot of countess runs on both normal and nightmare diff and this is easily the worst drops EVER. I’m talking hundreds of runs.

Even more so, her chest, was bugged and would NOT open, despite killing her. I know it doesn’t open after your first time killing her on any particular difficulty, but this was my first time killing her on hell diff and the chest should have opened with loot.

What gives? has anyone else experienced this terrible loot result?

I’ve definitely had some horrible Countess drops - I don’t think it’s bugged, just RNG.

On one of my recent playthroughs, her chest didn’t open for me as well. Not that it’s a big deal, but not sure why…that’s normally part of the quest “reward”

Ah OK. Just a super mana pot and a nef rune (a low level rune) on a hell diff run for your quest and no chest is an exceptionally poor reward! Especially as it took me near 20 minutes to get through and clear levels 1-4 of the forgotten tower. My sorc deals damage OK, but is squishy at just 800 life (no energy shield). Nearly all of the mobs were lightning immune too, meaning my nova did SFA and I had to resort to my lower level hydra and blizzard skills to clear all 4 lower levels of the tower. Since they do considerably less damage, it took longer than it normally would.

I’m coming across some uniques and/or mobs that just do insane damage. My resistances are low on hell diff, with fire being -13 sadly. I’m yet to equip my mara’s amulet, shako helm and I’m at level 74, so one off being able to equip my torch which will help. Note: I purchased a bung of items off ebay, since I wanna play the damn game and not fuff around for the next 10 years trying to find all the items for the build.

nova, hydra, and blizzard? youre a madman! id suggest going fire/ice as your main damage spells and using static field as ur lightning damage spells since it can always bring health down to half regardless of enemy HP total.

frozen orb and hydra is a great combo now with patch 2.4. blizzards requires too many pre requisites to make strong. with frozen orb, you only need points into itself with a few in cold mastery.

you can do 20 into frozen orb, 20 hydra, a few into static to increase its range some (5-8), 10 fire mastery, 10 cold mastery.1 I teleport of course and 1 point into frozen armor

Probably lol. It’s working though. Nova kills 90% of stuff and quickly, even on hell diff. Lightning immunities hurt though and there seems to be more mobs immune to lightning than cold or fire imho. Even then, my limiting factor at the moment isn’t my damage, or even mob immunities, but some mobs like the small pygmy buggers one shot me, even with 800hp.

I know 800 hp isn’t a lot, but I had to spend a lot to get the pre-requisite strength for spirit (156 str). Small charm drops have been pretty bad so far.

This is my first sorc char since 20 odd years ago when I had a lvl 83 Blizzard sorc pre Blizzard nerf and pre respec points. The nerf killed my character completely and I lost interest in the game.

I may spin up a 2nd sorc that’s frozen orb/hydra down the track. I like the nova play style.
