I tried the game with a controller today and realised you can use right mouse button skills one after the other directly since you can assign each of them to X, Y, B, Rb & RT (assuming A is assigned to main attack). Where as while playing with a mouse, first we have to get to the skill we want to use by keeping pressing to prev./next skill and only then can we cast the skill.
Yes, the devs tried to keep everything as original as possible, but I thought, 21 years later when we have more advanced mouse and mouse software, we should be able to assign skills to different keys on a mouse and use them directly, instead of going through 3-4 skils then applying it.
Or, having the controller players have this advantage and keeping the same option off from keyboard+mouse players doesn’t seem fair.
What do you think ?
Thanks.

Sorry for my lack of terminology. I understand that means we will actually be able to trigger skills in one click directly, right ?
the new Quick cast thing coming in 2.3 is actually part of the controller input system.
When you’re programming a game, user controls are handled by what is called the input system. Basically tells the program what to do when the user presses a key.
Anyways, what they’ve done is created a sperate input system and item tag labels for the controller… The Quick cast thing taps into these changes.
The player will instantly cast what ever skill when the quick cast is selected. without the need to click to activate the spell and click again to cast the spell. basically eliminating 1 click.
guess they had a hard time figuring out how to balance controller with M&K.
so they decided to add the feature to M&K as well.
Still doesn’t solve the issue of how to place items into your cube with controller unfortunately.

^ This. Since my inventory is full with charms I always have to switch to M&K if I want to pick something up and put it in the cube. Would be cool if in that case stuff just automatically goes into the cube. And while we’re at it, also would be great if Cain idents stuff in cube again

I had asked for a similar thing in a forum somewhere, sometime ago. We can have the original D2 inventory tab for charms and potions and a modern tab with a lot more slots which only accepts loot. They can code the game so that any charm in that stash won’t count and we won’t be able to carry potions in that stash. So, the new stash won’t effect game play apart from carrying some more loot.
I know it is has been years for me on playing the OG D2 but I don’t even remember Cain identifying items in our cube. Definitely would be a great QoL addition though and being able to vendor items from it.
