Controller UI with M+K

I played the beta of diablo 2 Resurrected with mouse and keyboard but also controller. I noticed that the UI for the controller is much better, we can place several skills with different button maping and use them directly, without having to assign them to the action button (right click on mouse) to then be able to use it.

Also for paladin for example, you can have the auras and still use other skills, while on keyboard you can’t do that.

I would love to have the possibility to choose the controller UI but with M+K.

I agree that I wish I could use more skills at once on binds, but I would hate to lose the ability to have as many binds as I want. I don’t want to be limited to only being able to bind like 6 skills.

I think it would just be an option to turn on the actionbar so you could still use the old version if you wanted. They could also make it character specific like how keybinds are saved. That way if you want the actionbar on some characters and not others you wouldn’t have to swap it in the options menu every time you log into that character.

I think it would also be possible to have the action bar and still leave left and right click with the swapping function on top of that so that you could have a hybrid of both. I could see that being useful on a summoner or pally that has a lot of aura options.

The controller can bind 12 abilities…Which is the same you have by default for KBM without manually setting the other 12 to custom keys.

I was actually about to make a post about this when I saw this one. Personally, I can’t convince myself to play the way the keyboard currently works after trying the new controller UI, it’s just unnecessary actions that make my nerve problems spike faster. The problem is, with the controller, and things like Corpse Explosion…it just pops the nearest corpse whether there’s an enemy in range or not…so you have to blow up every corpse laying around until you finally get to the ones next to the enemy packs, which wastes both mana and corpses.

As much as I would love to see them enable cast on press hotkeys for KBM and a UI that’s similar to the controller UI, I’d also accept them either 1) Improving the casting of things like Corpse Explosion with more intuiitive auto casting, or 2) allowing you to target your spells with the controller by moving a cursor using the right stick, while still allowing intelligent casting if there’s no valid cast target near the cursor (IE, if your cursor isn’t over a corpse and you cast a summon, it just pops whatever’s nearby for your skele/revive)

PS: As far as I can remember, unless something changed, you should be able to set your Left Click to things like Blessed Hammer or Fist of Heavens etc. so that you can use them without deactivating your aura. Just click on the Left Click icon that’s normally set to “normal attack”

PPS: Is there actually somewhere to submit these kinds of ideas or do you just make a forum post and pray someone at the company sees it?

Bone Wall or Bone prison don’t work good with a controller either.

They could use CTRL-keybind as a method of giving you twelve just like the controller has. PoE uses this method for all three sets of keybinds and it works well. Holding CTRL would also bring up the “second” binding bar into view so you could verify you are hitting the right skill. It takes getting used to, but it’s a way to have the skill bar while retaining a good number of skill binds.
