I plugged in a controller and I am kind of shocked… Auto sort inventory, way more than two skill slots so minimal awkward button juggling, plus multiple configs of those bars.
I am normally not a complainer about controller integration but the pc controls feel downright clunky compared to the controller and not giving us access to simple qol like the sort inventory button feels just… bad, especially in early game ladder when you are auto attacking enemies.
The addition of a force move toggle or keybind could remedy many issues, but I would happily trade in the controller UI for the dated one where I am not shuffling abilities around.
I hope we see a legacy UI option in the future because I know that’s important for a lot of people, but jeez, the skill layout for controllers so much better IMO.
Also pls give us auto sort, it’s already in the game!

Agreed it makes no sense to me that keyboard cant use these options. those 2 options( sort and skill bar)which are already in the game, would make a 20 year old game feel new like PoE or last epoch, and now it feels ,well like a 20 year old game!

Game is literally painful for me too play mouse and keyboard with my hands issues. Controller is nice but not as precise as K&M. Just wish they would give us the hotbar and quickcasting of skills on K&M .

Hey I appreciate having the option, I can kick back on the couch if I feel like it. Controller is an ease of access for many people. D3 don’t even have it and it plays like a charm with a controller on consoles.
I’m confused. You have a controller so what are you complaining about?

It is very simple. I would rather use the same UI with M+KB.

So you are complaining that a game company did a good job with their controller support. Lol, this has to be a first.

This game has quite a few unexplained tricks when it comes to movement with mouse and keyboard i noticed. for example if you set auto attack to right click, then hold right click anywhere to move, u can just hover over an enemy, then the next to auto attack them all, without the need of clicking even once, or lifting your finger from that rmb
i should add that this method is even faster and precise compared to controller
also controller isnt everything, good luck quick healing your mercenary companion with a potion. selling and buying stuff is also way slower, and theres a tooltip missing here and there
edit: now that i think about it, i cant see a whirlwind build work properly on controller either, since u need ot be able to quickly click certain distance from your position and back again
I ask for this on keyboard while it was beta, and people didnt want to break the perfect d2.
I am having way more fun palying it as if i were a controll player tbh

Technically, the complaint is that they didn’t also make the same QoL changes to the KBM controls…They really need to give an option to have auto cast hotkeys for keyboard…and less importantly, an inventory auto sort button.
Yeah! We need a “Classic” and a “D2R” versions of the controls. I really like how it works with a controller but prefer the precision of mouse and keyboard. A lot of times I just play on controller just because of how nice it is.

Auto sort isn’t available, but you can quickcast using the skill bar. I set my rmb for throw(or something else that doesn’t actually work) and I can just press the key I have the skill bound to and voila, i cast. I can even hold down the key to auto repeat. This may have been changed in 2.4, but it’s available now, and I use it often. I can even hold the lmb to autoattack(guessing anything bound to rmb also works.)
With my assassin i ran for ptr ladder test, the only issue i ran into was you would need to restart the process if you went into hit recovery. Sorceress, no issues, so far.
They have that in the options, and you can save it as a default for the mode you want. (You can switch by going to the controls tab and pressing default. There’s a pop up and you can choose between classic, resurrected and custom.)
Yeah it was definitely a good move to grant the option to display bound skills like controller players had/have access to. I’ve really enjoyed that feature on the keyboard. Can just bind teleport to my side mouse, etc.
Yeah I’m not sure what the OP is talking about. Its been an option since launch. IMO controller seems nice and chill but item managment for controller is trash. Even with ‘Auto-Sort’ it just screws up my perfectly managed inventory. Maybe I was missing it or doing it wrong but trying to add potions to your belt from inventory slots SUCKED. Drag and drop only?
Controller is all nice and fun until you need to aim your blizzard, meteor, etc.
Not since launch, but it’s available.

I mean it was like 2 weeks after launch. I know because I remember that.
It was 2 months after launch roughly.
It wasn’t a thing at the time that I wrote that and it was added later in a patch.
