Everyone starts with a new character at a specific level. They spawn in on a large map with different areas using tiles from every act and monsters/chests on the map have different drop tables. Uber diablo can spawn anywhere on the map at random times and can drop torches and annihilus charm.
Players fight to be the last one standing.
If you ask Fartnite real nice, they might make new skins with the Diablo 2 classes.
I would rather see a standalone in the d2 engine. Maybe I could find some support in the modding community.
I loved this mode in Path of Exile, but it wasn’t very popular. I had around 50 wins ( BellumRomanum was my name )
I did plan on working on a mod for D2 for this, but no multiplayer mods killed that pretty quick.
there used to be communities for games like this. you kind of just get a group of people together and organize it yourself and you don’t get custom maps but you had to be creative in 2003. the biggest one was called Ironman tournaments. it was x number of players in hardcore, you guys join a game and level up to 30 (or whatever level) together and then fight to the death at the end. i forget all of the rules, i’m sure there are d2jsp posts about this.
