In D2R, I’ve been getting the error “an issue occurred while communicating with the game servers” every time I try to login (can’t access online characters, only SP). ALL other games work fine. I had this issue a couple months ago and it was solved only when I asked for a refund. Already tried all the “fixes” in the troubleshooting page.

Your post is 3 days old i had the same problem back then..
truth is Blizz released a patch then and trying to play on older patch let’s say via a shortcut that bypasses battlenet app, causes this.. you need to update the game client ( back then blizz screwed the update which caused several issues for ppl so blizz pulled the update, it should be fine now)..
Back then the patch downloaded intermitenly, and in the end broke the whole installation… scan and repair didn’t help, i had to re-download the whole game several hours later when blizz fixed everything..
one more thing.. previously when blizz updated the game they left some servers running the older client for quite a time.. this time it was different since the update was a major one touching upon stash size, so previous patches were largely incompatible, hence the lack of ability to connect..
bro, I tried reinstalling the game today, formated my PC, changed to win11, nothing worked. I was able to see my online characters once but couldn’t make a game, and then back again: can’t even see the online characters. I get one of two possible messages: the “you have not been online in 30 days” and the “cannot communicate to the game servers”. all my other games work fine. this is very frustrating.. I’m just gonna move to PoE2 at this time.
