For the life of me I don’t know why I keep getting disconnected constantly. I cant even make my through 1 of the starting zones in Act 1 before I get tossed out and have to start over again.
I took a break over a year ago because of the disconnecting issues… and its still happening? Seems worse than ever.
Please point me on the direct fix I can do on my end that will stop these disconnects or is this something I just have to accept?
I have seen across the internet loads of people talking about same issues… I don’t think its our issue, its the games issue that needs to be fixed.
The issue is likely due to packet loss somewhere between your computer and Blizzards server. Diablo 2 has always been sensitive to packet loss. Even 1% packet loss will eventually result in being dropped from the game. The higher the packet loss percentage, the shorter period of time on average you can play before being randomly disconnected.
The fix is to eliminate the packet loss, wherever it may be. If it’s a loss issue with one of the many connection hops between you and Blizzards server, it could be due to faulty hardware, poor quality of service routines and/or an overloaded network. The only fix in this case may be to switch internet providers and hopefully they don’t go through the same connection hop that has trouble.
Any type of cellular or satellite based internet service provider is going to experience packet loss. So if you do have a cellular or satellite based internet provider, consider switching to a landline based provider. (if possible)
If your computer is connected to your router via WIFI, I strongly suggest switching over to a wired ethernet connection, as WIFI is an inherently lossy type of connection.
I have a very stable connection, because I’m very close (hop wise) to the central backbone of the US. I’ve experienced only a handful of disconnections while playing D2:R, and that is from when the game was released.
Same deal here i cant make a game without being booted after 2-10mins of start,its really starting to annoy the crap outta me…packet …smacket my butt…to be polite just fix it!
