Compelling Orb Change Question

I have a question on the orb change in party situation.

I’m not certain that it’s individual player that needs to smash the orb separately or just one player in a party.

Was that made clear in the stream? No blue posts here so if it wasn’t I’ll have to wait till the next update. :man_shrugging:

I believe it’s every player in the party, which is why people are whining about not being able to get “rushed” anymore.

Now they each must collect pieces for Khalim’s Will… which means they’ll have to do the quests before they can do Durance and beyond.

I am pretty confident this will work exactly like the Horadric Staff quest in Act 2. If you are in a party, the whole party will complete the quest.

That is not consistent with how it works in A2 staff. It only requires 1 staff.

But we’ll see it in the PTR for sure.

I was thinking this too. No different than any other quest just one person needs to do it.

I assume everyone that has the quest to smash the orb will get credit, I don’t think each individual person needs to do it one at a time.
it seems likely that you will need to do all the quests though, like collect the eye, heart and brain, get the flail and craft them, and then get the quest to smash the Orb.

That’s exactly what I was referring to earlier, too. Even if only one person has to hit it, it sounds like they’re making it where everyone has to have the pieces to continue thru Durance.

Do you have a clear recollection of what they exactly said to arrive at this conclusion? I’m asking because I don’t remember.

If you have some quotes from memory, it’d be appreciated.

Edit: the stream will be up in youtube for sure. I’ll check it out again. duh!

Agreed. Some people will hate it, others will be like, “ok, this is how the game was designed and people have just worked around it, so they fixed it.”

I wonder if they will fix act 2 as well, so you can’t rush it if someone has the Kill Duriel quest in your party after opening the wall with the staff.

I’m taking it to mean that one player in the party has to do it in in the game, in order to be able to go into durance in that game. You can’t just have someone tp you in durance now and bypass the whole organs+flail ordeal.

As someone else in party is completing quests, you dont have to do it on your own.

If they make it any different than the staff in A2 they will be shooting themselves in the foot. I also don’t see how they would do that, every mechanic in the game grants the quest reward to everyone when one person qualifies.

Why stop there? Baal Quest is bugged, too. And probably the biggest hole to patch since it bypasses Ancients.

Act 2 Staff nor A3 Compelling Orb “drop” anything, it just gives you credit and opens a path to the next area to complete.

Act 2 staff may be the next thing to change, too… as well as anywhere else people could be simply rushed through.

Ok, so I re-watched the relevant portion of the stream.

It does not state anything regarding party play that I could discern. Devs do state that they do want players to have an experience rather than just skip it.

But if that is the argument, what’s the point in having the “experience” 3 times? And over the number of years, I’ve had that experience many times over.

I’m not necessarily against the change but it’s a weak argument to make it. Why not just come out and say it’s to stop rushers?
