My buddy and I have played Diablo together for the last 20 years, but D2R doesn’t launch on his machine. It’s an all in one HP Desktop thing from 2017, and uses an Intel UHD 630 integrated GPU. As of last week, the client would attempt to launch, show him an “unexpected error” message, then return to the launcher.
I know it’s below the specs for D2R, but it runs most other Blizzard titles well below their required specs so there’s always a chance. The game also works on my laptop which is also well below spec.
Can anyone confirm or deny whether they have tried this on a comparable rig and if it works, after today’s patch? He has already bought and returned the game once and I’d hate for him to get stuck with a game he can’t play just to test it again.
Thanks very much!
I can’t offer personal experience, but I want to stress why meeting the requirements is important. As the developers make changes to better accommodate the hardware that meets minimum specs, it could cause the game to become unplayable by unsupported hardware. If there is some playtime by that point, the license wouldn’t be eligible for a refund.
I wouldn’t bother testing it again.
Mine uses HD 630 integrated and it absolutely will not even try to run anymore. It gets past the cinematics and starts to load and then crashes HARD, usually taking any other running programs down with it (launcher, discord, even windows explorer, monitor goes black, etc).
It was actually sort of working BEFORE this patch, I could get it to load and then switch to legacy graphics and it would be ok for a bit. Now it doesn’t even try at all.
I know my comp is a toaster, but I’ve played many games over its specs and they never basically exploded like this one does. I’ve never seen such an unstable game in my life.
I wish they’d add a Legacy Graphics Only mode or command or something. >.>
I have the same issue. I was able to get my char to level 24 right at launch, then I haven’t been able to play since. Single player still works somehow but not multiplayer. I wish they had an all legacy mode because that would allow me to play.
