I’m coming back to D2, been playing Diablo since the 1990s, what class is good for someone who is poor and will never find the rare runes, in the old days Blizzard, Skelimancer or Hammerdin were cheap starter builds…

Welcome back and those three builds still are the best ones, although I recommend you look up Mosaic Assassin, FoHdin(despite its Animal/Beast limitations) and Nova Sorceress(gear intensive but damn strong once you get it). Ditto Javazon, which is ok naked but godly when geared.

Fireball/FrozenOrb sorc is a solid starter for solo play, which you can respec to Blizzard once Hell difficulty is done, or whatever other sorc build you want/have gear for. Branch out to other classes from there depending on what gear you find.
I usually make one of each class, play them all as I find gear for them.

IMHO the 2 best classes to start off new/returning are sorcs (teleport) and summon necros (cheap) I think when i 1st played D2 LOD back in early 2000s some player completed HC Hell naked with a Summon Necro and last season i went Hell mode with just magical/rares and some random thrash ppl threw away haha
Dont play meta and dont care about bots cuz it will destory ur experience, just play ur own way and have a FUN!

Blizz sorc is the cheapest yet most powerful class in the game (for newbies). If you arent going it as your first char, you are gimping yourself
