I am level 87 or so hardcore cold sorc right now running Blizzard/Glacial spike full cold with a sunder charm. Feels clunky when farming. Does max Frozen Orb do enough damage to kill in p1hell and be viable along with the rest of the points in Blizzard and its synergies?

Orb is good! I wouldn’t dual spec with blitz though. Orb energy shield is a good hardcore build.
Blizz / chain/lightning works.
max frost bolt and blizz
1 point frozen orb
max chain lightning ang lightning
rest in lite mastery and cold mastery
max frozen orb is great . probably a safer way to play. if you are good at teleporting around and finding your spot before casting, blizz chain works better for me personally.
I don’t hc much but thats what i go with when i do. On sc servers i go zeal sorc
Orb is not played with blizzard. Thats waste of points. Go dual element instead. Or better, energy shield build.
Are you using static?
full cold with JUST a sunder / cold mastery isn’t really enough dmg IMO. need facets / infinity and all that good end game stuff to really melt monsters.
now for p1. orb is fantastic, i do the fball meteorb build. and i clear p5 pretty good with it. so i imagine p1 would be a breeze.
Depends on how many skills you have and how you are playing. non cold immunes will melt even on P8. The slowdown comes from cold immunes and you can either deal with those or skip them.
Infinity won’t make a huge difference there since they have the 1/5 effectiveness penalty vs sundered monsters. It’s something, but it’s normally better to just run an insight on a blizz sorc vs infinity.
As for the OP: I would respec to orb/energy shield and run an insight on the merc and see how it goes. It should be fine for P1 in hell. Cold immunes will still take a bit, but you shouldn’t have any issues surviving.
Just go zeal sorc and you won’t ever have to worry about immunes.

having the sunder on you makes your cold skills 1/5 efficent
