I’m sure if you did this you could keep people in d2r
Ineffective. Botters just rebuy the game with new Battle.net accounts created with new throw away Google email accounts. Long time RMT botters know Blizzards ban wave routine through and through, and likely have virgin accounts ready to go in the event their current botter accounts get banned. The only gain from banwaves is a bit of pocket change for Blizzard for the continued life support maintenance of this game.
It’s enough if they have to spend their money again, I have money left over, they should close the accounts now and let the rats leave their money.
I think they ought to jack the price of the game up to $1000 and just leave it there. The vast majority of legitimate players own the game anyway. The botters will eventually burn through their pre-purchased accounts, and they will slowly dry up with continued banwaves. Make two factor authentication mandatory to help prevent account theft.
They should charge $500 for a new Diablo II account.
This game should be $60 and $5 a month (for online play). For the amount of replayability. This way we could get some updates/balances. At current price they probably barely pay the server costs.
why would they do that? Those accounts could be used for botting and generating money.
would you pay a monthly fee to play it?
I wouldn’t.
If we had 3-5 new runewords each ladder and some balances I would.
They must pair an account with a computer to run the game on.
They create a bunch of virgin Battle.net accounts and buy D2:R when it’s on sale. They run as many as they have hardware capable of running, and maintain a supply of extra accounts ready to go. By having a set of virgin accounts ready to go, all they need to do is switch the login credentials on the computer. If they didn’t have accounts ready to go, they’d have to go and create new accounts again and enter all of the account info to get them signed in whenever a ban happens. That takes time.
It’s a sequence of events they do ahead of time, and have automation take care of switching the login credentials. A banwave comes, automation senses the account is banned, automation goes in and switches the account credentials, rinse and repeat, the bot starts over. It’s all in an effort for them to reduce/eliminate downtime.
These people run automation in the game, they’re not going to stop there, they’re also going to automate how their botting rings function across multiple computers, and likely in multiple locations.
I wouldnt be surprised if even the purchasing is automated. Maybe that’s where they should put their “prove I’m not a robot” Turing tests.
I would gladly pay a subscription if that meant they removed bots.
Alternatively it would be nice if they at least flagged botters and remove them from the ladder rankings as well as people who join their games identified as botting. Just legit players on the rankings.
so you’d pay them to… ruin the game more? we do not have the same mentality. that’s a hard no considering their track record with d2:r, if you’ve forgotten, it’s add something completely terrible. NEVER change or update said horrible thing.
HELL no i do not want that, especially paying … 60$ a year for that? LOL. why would you want that?
You are 100% right… They would not spend so much money… But yea verry disipointed with this ladder… You want to get some good drops and when you want to sell them the prices are ridiculous!
I always liked this game and started to play after 14 Years again thinking that we could enjoy it. But with those Chinese boters you can’t. Look at the ladder boards 85% is made with Chinese characters at names.
I took a glance at the ladder standings last night, the majority of them looked like Korean characters.
Until people wont stop buying from botters, we will have botters.
