So I’ve been using an Orb sorc in classic for my rushes and usually the Oriface room right before Duriel gives me problems. Since most those guys are cold immune I can slowly and I mean Slooooowly static them and cast my puny lvl 7 fireball until they die. Is there a better way ? Should I respec and stick with Orb ? Would Blizzard be better ? Firewall or Meteor ? Lightning over fire for my secondary? Act 2 seems to be my only issue dealing with cold immune and trying to find anything on a classic build seems to be non existent.
I’m curious to know this as well. My classic sorc is lv73, kinda uses a typical meteorb build, and it works fairly well. I do sometimes have problems in the same area in that room right outside of duiriel, but usually a combination of meteor/glacial spike and frozen orb works okay.
However, I do honestly regret not putting more points into teleport and static field, as I end up having to chug a mana potion every 6 seconds or so, and my static field is not much better so the radius too small for me to use it.
If I were to respec, I would probably put more points (at least 10) into both teleport and static field. I’d still max out frozen orb, and throw probably another 10 or so into cold mastery
As for the fire tree, I’ve heard of people using fire wall as it’s pretty strong even without synergies, so I’d probably start there. I’d love to hear some feedback on this.
How many points do you have in static field, and does it work well for you during boss fights?
Im pretty sure Only putting points into Static Increases the distance, it does not increase any kind of damage, Its always 25% . If using +Skills equipment 1 hard point should be fine
Yeah more points really just increases the distance. It’s just harder to make up the skill points gap using equipment, especially given the limited gear choices available in classic.
However static field works a bit differently in classic, and isn’t hp% capped like it is in LoD. Meaning you can basically bring anything that isn’t lightning immune all the way down to 1hp, then finish it off with a spell like telekinesis, or fireball.
The distance is still worth it for safety. On my HC build I always put 6 points minimum in static.
I can solo everything now, including chaos. My current skill points are 20 in orb, 20 in master,10 in Static, 1 in thunderstorm and mastery then 10 into hydra and I think I have 8 points into ice bolt not at lvl 77. At 10 I can hit anything on the screen and drop them to 1 hp and if ice and fire immune thunderstorm does its job. I like hydra over firewall cause I can spam a couple of them and then static until everything dies. Cause Hydras shoot multiple directions cause most guys don’t sit still and take firewall. Only thing is I swap my shard for hellplague in chaos or in staff room before duriel for +2 fire so my hydra do a bit more damage. Now I use my old orb sorc to mf cows, Andy, meph.

Even with 1 point in ice bolt it takes maybe 1-2 more orbs than normal.
Nice setup. Glad it’s working in chaos.
And the way I see it, once hydras get better with 2.4 it’ll be more efficient. Had to burn a lvl 78 sorc to find the right setup but it worked out. Used 3 respecs on first one now lvl 78 on second and 0 respecs used. First one that had all orb is now mfer. Using the hero editor helped a lot that and my buddy also experimenting with sorc builds.
