There are no chat channels in the game, not even Trade.
The channels are a huge part of why I loved playing back in the day. It inspired me to keep playing & made things fun to log in, talk to friends I’d made in chat, then go play to keep up with them.
Can we please have chat channels? They’re a core part of the experience that made the game great!
Lobby is really bad comparing to original D2

This is what I’ve been talking about for the last 6 months. This is why games like D3 were trash, because they weren’t community oriented games. I’m already feeling emptiness when I’m in the chat channels. The OG trade channels were filled with people spamming what items they had for trade which added to the overall experience.
With every feature removal and issue thread I read, single player becomes ever more likely. Thats a shame. Was really looking forward to chatying with a new community in the channels, get to know a few folks…a few friends. Then knocking about in the odd multiplayer game around chatting and solo runs.
So now all we have is a lobby list of ‘kill ball and free plz’ game names with nothing else?

Most people don’t know about the channel join command. It’s not quite the same thing since legacy D2 had an existing list of specific channels. It created a much more natural way for players to discover these channels. Only having “Lobby” as a pre-existing channel is not really useful. They should include channels like trade, PvP, class, ladder etc. again.
This 100%, I hope Blizzard realizes new players aren’t getting to experience the same community experiences we did. These players may potentially leave the game early because they see nothing unique about the online mode/community.
It’s a completely selfless request, I don’t know why we can’t have a confirmation of some kind, it’s for the good and longevity of the game.

Anyway I tried with the command /channel and it does not anything…
Chat channels made the game for me, the banter the team building. getting help giving help, making friends. without them its just like playing solo.

Hi all you just need to type “/channel join (name of channel)” and you will join.
Just need to know names of the channels.
Couple log-ins ago in an online, single player game I occasionally had somebody from the ‘Trade’ channel chime in with some comment addressed to somebody but not me. Strange.
Yeah the trade channel works for like 30 seconds per day. Just no one tries to use it because it’s always broken
id like a trading channel and a hardcore trading channel
a place for hardcore peeps to hang without being around those softcore plebs
Will Blizzard ever acknowledge this is a major issue for players.

/channel join “name” You have to know the channel, someone explain how you find the channel if you have never been on it? Also how do you find channels you want like specific trade or class channels etc.
If you create a channel how will others know if they are not on your F/list.
The old system worked fine just bring it back the software has been created so it needs adapting is all. ( a bit thick so I may be wrong)
