Hi, I just got again “Failed to enter game. This character is already in a game on the server. Please try again.” I finished killing Meph Hell, ran in portal, arrived act 4, I tried to identify my items and it says “Waiting for confirmation of transaction…”. I went to cain in a4 to mass identify, my character was stuck couldn’t do anything. Now I am getting again the Failed to enter game. Character already in a game on the server.
Can you please read this the problem is occurring again.

like ive said before they are not gonna be able to fix this, until the servers stop being overloaded. just like with the pd2 launch its recommended to play on non peak hour servers, exit often to save, and if your char gets stuck in limbo it may or may not help to rejoin that exact same game with a different character. these are old issues/engine limitations
edit: the only other temp fix is blizzard restarting servers every x hours
Well I hope it doesn’t take 24 hours again to reset my char and ruin my day again 
same here , think this bug need real profesionals…not the blizz guys

now this has actually a lot of truth to it, since nobody who made d2 is working at blizzard at the moment i think haha. time to call the boys back from Runic Games

My char is locked since morning and my friend can’t even start the game since launch…

For me it is around 3 hours now… playin at non peak hours might be good advice, but weekend is now only time when I can play… Earlier I could join game, but creating one was impossible. Srlsy I hope they will find solution soon.
Quick question are you guys filling up all 3 shared stash tabs? Might be unrelated but I stopped relying on shared stash so much and it hasn’t happened again since. Maybe coincidental.
The only thing I could think of that’s capable of locking an entire account is something to do with shared stash tabs. Almost like too many items in shared stash has the potential to cause account data issues. This could be entirely wrong though.

Did you fill up multiple shared stash pages? In the beta I never used shared stash because of a forum post and never encountered the issue until using it on launch.

The only thing weird that happened to me before that was map bugging and not resetting. I read here someone had similar case.
Anyways i am stuck since 6 hours already. Despite their blue post that they unlock stuck characters i don’t think thats a case.
If they manually unlock your account today I suggest removing the majority of items from shared stash and only keeping essentials before saving and exiting. I really don’t know if this is an actual solution, but like I mentioned I avoided shared stash on beta and never had this problem. It could just very well be certain items are causing bugs and those being in the stash trigger it. Less junk in the stash might trigger it less.
I have an opposite idea. Since I never drop out while playing, I will just keep playing without quitting, even when I am sleeping. Will this work?
They shall at least tell us how to avoid being locked. It is fine if you just tell me not to use shared stash while you are fixing the issue.
But come on, they only did manual unlock which took several hours and they didn’t tell us what is the root cause…
This is the most priority, not one of, issue to fix. What else is more severe than not able to play?
Without a log, it’s pretty hard to remember the randomized names you start when doing solo runs, though.
… and I’m guessing the games aren’t actually up for 20 hours+
