Changes/No changes conversation

I’m sure this post has been made somewhere, because its reasonable thought in a divided community.

Similar to how WoW has Legacy Servers(Vanilla) and Live (Current), and also going to have Legacy 2.0(TBC) it is not farfetched for D2R in its success to do something similar.

That being said, with likeliness that the modding community will be allowed to thrive based on blizzard statements, its quite possible that these QOL/Game Changing features everyone is asking for will be coming in the form of an alternative mod/game mode.

Rather Than the community Divide before we even see what DAY of Release brings (Which SHOULD be the D2R as we CURRENTLY have seen it). Why not give them the chance for people to play the Original before Sprinkling additional spice (Its insulting to a chef if you add flavors not originally in the recipe before first trying it)

Just my two thoughts. Trying to be Voice of Reason in the otherwise seemingly divided community.

there is a major difference between asking for a balance change and a QOL change… asking for a QOL change is fine… asking for a balance change in situation where it using a flat out bug fix is generally considered very bad… asking for a major balance change is a BIG no.

example of QOL changes
“being able to kill cow king”
“bring able to pick up items without adding more charm spaces” “aka charm inventory”
“loot filter”
"make it so i can lock character level, and choose not to gain exp so i can then use my low/mid lvl dueler in hell without ruining him

these sort of things have no effect on balance and simple make the game more fun

example of major balance changes:
nerf enigma, nerf grief, add a new difficulty, add maps, make X harder or easier
“rework the entire loot system from the ground up and fundamentally rebalance how the game drops items so i dont need to learn how to share”

Charm inv. And loot filters are balance changes.

Lets just get the game released in 1.14D’s image, roll through a ladder or two. Review any needs and solve them after the game has been released.

One step at a time people… One step at a time.

No they’re not, i have played with both of them for over 2 years… i literally RUN the most popular loot filter in path of diablo. being able to hide inferior items and throwing pots and being able to see important drops better is the literal definition of a QOL change.

“charm inventory” is specifically designed to make it so u cant have more charms than u already currently have. even if u somehow think that “your trading QOL for power” and you something think that that is an “acceptable” mechanic… “charm inventory” doesn’t even change that… u can still choose to store your normal item in there as well, all it does it give u more space to pick up items. again the very definition of a “QOL change”.

Let’s start with charm inventory. Take 2 PvP players of relative skill. Doesn’t matter who.

Give them each the same Din.

Let one use prebuffs and 1 uses no prebuffs.

Sorry, charm inventory is a balance change, you’re wrong.

Aye aye, hear hear, yoho! Hopefully Blizzard can just keep its third eye on the big wheel and steer this ship to port.

Yes, but, also, allow this as a Seperate mode , Again , referencing Hearthstone as another example (Classic Vs Wild)

oh please… because the dueling community in d2 never came up with its own rules…

also if both player have access to it how is it different.

i used to prebuff ALL THE TIME, wtf do u think people using CTA are doing?.. next

I think we should get back to my original point, Yes, Great idea, But Lets make it a different mode, make both player bases happy.

It’s not just pvp. You could use Prebuff CTA and still have 900MF on switch, still have plenty of room for loot, and have 9X GCs instead of the standard 8.

This is a change in balance, plain and simple.

I think the base game should remain as close to the original as possible. Any major changes should come through mods. There’s no need for Blizzard to support multiple flavors of the game. If people want a different D2:R experience, they can get that experience through mods, just like they’ve been doing with the original game.

I agree with 2 separate realms for changes. I hope it happens, eventually.

Yes, as I doubt MEDIAN XL, Or PD2 or Path of diablo are going anywhere, I enjoy all of these mods, but I find I always like to revisit the classic gameplay as well.

They don’t need to support it, but if they choose to make changes, they should do so on a seperate mode.

except a ton of those mods do a lot of terrible balance changes. i don’t want balance changes… i only want QOL changes.

MF has diminishing returns its pointless to go over 400 anyways

and yes the 9x gc vs 8x gc would be a very minor balance change, but that is well worth the QOL change, and in dueling that has no effect as you’re running 9 anyways.

Project Diablo 2 is a fantastic Mod, and the Worldstone Shard mechanic is a super cool way to continue to customise items, the maps are a great way to differentiate the end game experience, but again, would be great to have, in another mode.

The difference between 400 and 900 MF is pretty huge.

It’s +153 to +195% for uniques Which is around 20% of real MF for uniques, more for others.

20% of RealMF is not trivial. You’re speaking nonsense, sorry.

the “worldstone shard” is simeply an “orb of corruption” from path of diablo, which in turned copied that from path of exile.

in fact the PD2 dev " senpai something" played path fo diablo and basially stole 95% of greendude’s changes, also i personally know that hat said dev is a completely seflish prick, who literally gets his following to follow you to downvote everything you do if u so much as disagree with him.

i dont like a lot of changes in path of diablo either, i think the new maps are terrible, but at least greendude is a nice guy

He very well may have taken many ideas from it, but in the end, it feels like a much cleaner and fun mod to play. (Though I have not delved into Path of diablo as extensively)
