Cease and Desist for JSP?

Is it possible for Blizzard to serve a cease and desist to d2jsp?
If so, I really hope they do.

If you’re concerned about fairness and legitimacy at launch, look no further than jsp. Those who’ve been acquiring FG for the past few years/decades, or those who simply choose to buy FG with real money, will have an overwhelming advantage over those who haven’t. This’ll lead to fully geared out characters in a matter of days that were acquired without investing any time/effort into D2R.

To compound on this issue, jsp also acts as a siphon of in-game trading making it even harder to gear-up for those of us who refuse to use it.
E.g. The majority of early ladder HRs and tc87s will be traded over jsp instead of in-game, further punishing those who opt to trade in-game as was intended.

I know jsp was borne out of a need for an easier trading mechanism in D2 and I genuinely believe it did a good job at doing that. However, it has inadvertently made the in-game trading scene much worse as a result. Though I do believe things like game filters (e.g. trade, exp, pvp, quest, etc.) would help bolster the in-game trading economy, I can’t imagine these types of QoL improvements alone will be enough to sunset jsp. As such, I really hope Blizzard does something to cancel or at least inhibit d2jsp usage.

No, d2jsp isn’t breaking any laws so a c&d wouldn’t make any sense.

Nope, they’re not doing anything wrong, or illegal.

Blizzard even encourages the use of D2jsp on The Arreat Summit. Great news!

Use Auction Sites
There are several fan sites that host Diablo II Auctions. You can put an item up for auction or buy items.”

Yup. Right there in plain language. all the anti-d2jsp people need to just understand Blizzard is asking people, directly, to use and buy items on auction sites, provided real world currencies or items of value are not being directly traded for items.

GG.

Well played. Despite my decades of using Arreat Summit, I never knew they actually endorsed 3rd party sites. Bah!

However, I’d counter by saying that they endorsed it for D2:LoD and not D2R.
Though they are the “same game”, they are at very different points in their life cycle. Over time, as the player base wanes, I absolutely see how things like jsp and mods help keep a game relevant/playable. D2R, on the other hand, is brand new and as such, doesn’t need the handicap jsp provides since the player base will be exponentially larger and more self-sufficient than D2:LoD.

well , what most people dislike about jsp is it’s link to real money. (and bottings)
which blizzard most probably doesn’t encourage , they would’ve if it would have been only item for item though.
they might encourages trading through forums etc… but probably not if it had anything to do with real money.

Services like JSP are necessary. I started playing HC after a while of LOD. I was able to trade in (at a relative loss) much of my ladder and non-ladder gear in SC, get FG, and then buy decent HC gear (although, much less of it, understandably) with the FG.

It would have functionally been impossible to make this transition without a trusted and stable intermediary, such as the JSP platform.

They did state the information on TAS should stay relevant for D2R, so there’s that…though some will need to change now, like ladder only information. I have never heart any representative from Blizzard state D2jsp is against the ToS, and I have asked several times on these very forums, as well as the old forums.

And I agree with those things, but FG is not exclusively purchased with real money, and has been given out freely by the site in the past.

Direct money trading is explicitly against the ToS. This grey area forum gold thing is most certainly not.

indeed , but it can be.
this sole fact make it not ok for many players and most probably blizzard aswell.

considering FG is worth actual money, it’s still trading money in my opinion , a bit like trading item for bitcoin.
i doubt blizzard would agree for people to trades items for bitcoin. (they aren’t cryptocurrency per say , but they still have monetary value)
but that’s my opinion.

I’ve asked on these official forums, dozens of times. Blizzard has never responded, it is pretty clear they are fine with D2jsp being used, and do not plan on banning anyone for using it.

It’s actually against jsp policy to sell FG for cash directly, and it directly states in D2jsp’s policies that it is not worth any money, it is their business’ intellectual property, and can be freely taken from you at any time. Your account can be suspended for any or no reason, at any time. FG does not have a real world value.

It’s an incorrect opinion, legally speaking.

I’d rather find everything myself and trade in game than give njaguar a single penny.

well , i never said i was right in any shape of form , simply that it was my opinion :stuck_out_tongue:
(due to the fact that it does have some link to money , though i have no experience when it comes to FG , never made an account ,i can easily be wrong on everything)

as for blizzard , the question would be “do they ever respond anyway” ? xD
(though i do wish they would sometime)

no

jsp is a fine community for meeting players and engaging with the game

get good at the game and you wouldn’t cry about jsp

well , not all jsp of course (since not all of them are like that) but those that do use botting and real money … i wouldn’t call them “good at the game” like not at all
for those , rieven video is relevant to me.
you sound like a child though with answer like that , not liking something does not equal not being good at something.

Says the guy who hoovers the floor for items and specs into warmth on a sorc at low lvl ahhhhahahaha

why would they, its not illegal. thank god for jsp

personally , what i do with sorc at low level is making a Leaf (tir+ral) runesword on my switch weapon. (and also nadir + stealth for good measures)
it’s pretty usefull and avoid the need to actually do that for the low level.
until i simply make a little insight runesword :stuck_out_tongue:

There are tons of things you can do let this “pro” hoover the floor lmfao really…

and hes spamming out hate constantly calling other people noobs in so funny

The question I have for you is, “So what?”.

What do you care if a few of the millions who play buy Enigma by day 3 of the game? You will likely never encounter that player out of the millions, and they will not impact you in the slightest, ever.

I never use JSP and I was able to make a godly hammerdin, lite sorc, and smiter. The only real use case of JSP is to trade for things that are worth more than 40 HRs/Sojs, i.e. gg pvp gear or to get good items early for excessive prices.

I have not experienced JSP as a negative. I can still get my shako, occulus, arachnid, magefist, eth treks, spirits, hoto, cta, fort, insight, infinity, grief, etc without ever acknowledging JSP’s presence.

I’m not against the devs looking into an in-game trading post, but I don’t see a super big need for it. It wouldn’t hurt anything.
