Exactly my point, Sorcs dominate norm and nightmare modes and then in Hell they start to have problems because mobs and unique mobs usually become immune to spell damage often fire and cold which are the two most popular builds so Sorcs struggle more than other classes.
WW barbs with a nice lance, some decent armor and enough leech can usually sail right through hell with a lot less problems.
the barbarian has always been the worst character but what do you want. he is the most vanilla character in a fantasy game. he’s human where other people have magical powers or necromancy or power over the elements, and he yells at things. even if his attacks increased damage by 2000% and higher with more skill points, he would still suck. his only useful skills are battle orders and whirlwind which is garbage until you get it to a level where it doesn’t remove damage. i really don’t think there’s any fixing him. a dude tried in his own mod several times and he’s just not that great of a character. the paladin is much more useful and better at combat. higher block, more def, more options for damage. there’s really no reason to play a barb unless you want to buff people or turn him into a mf build with find item but any character is way better at even that. you can tell i dislike barbarian and i really don’t see the appeal. he’s a big dude yeah, but that’s it. maybe a beginner character and he’s decent at pvp but only when you have REALLY good gear and access to teleport. but any other character is better right from the start. this guy calls himself the master of combat yet his attack rating is terrible. BUT you can do some cool things with him. for example, flamebellow can allow you to turn him into an invincible tank and using his whirlwind skill you can trigger an effect on other players that causes most missile attacks to pass through them, doing no damage. it all worked in classic anyway, no idea if it works here.
yeah, every class get their own time to shine, barbs are just late bloomers

barbs are good for shout buffing a party and drain tanking IIRC they also dont care about immunes and can WW all day for chip damage on hard champions as long as there is some trash to feed them
never were a good dps or farm class though so not great for solo unless you want to pvp which they are very good at with leap and bash
