Incase someone hasn’t mentioned it already the casuals that could never master chess invented checkers. Op go find your checkers game like POE and D3.
People act like the original name was perfect and any change is a insult. Its exactly because of people like this that games can be released so poorly. The game is painfully dated and it truly need changes. If those changes were made in the original game no one would complain, but in D2R they do, its just dumb.
With your logic pong, battleship, poker, and other games should change because they are outdated compared to current times. If you go poking around with the core structure of Diablo 2 then your are effectively turning D2R into it’s own entity entirely instead of a remaster. That would be like taking the assets of Starcraft 2 then creating an entirely new system for it (game mechanics and all) then trying to pass it off as a remaster.
News Flash: Doing this is considered false advertisement.
Most people on this forum who object to content are objecting to specific types of content because of how Blizzard marketed D2R. If they used the word Remake instead of Remaster (Yes, These have different meanings in the video game industry) then less people would oppose said ideas. You can’t hold it against people for opposing ideas that would eventually lead to companies spoon feeding consumers garbage.
20 years ago i didnt like this games loot or balance system
fan boys man … fan boys
Wow, I thought this post was dead. Look at all the butthurt neckbeards still crying about it, pretending like they actually played back then.
If your talking about bugs and fixing glitches then fine. But if your talking about changing core mechanics and significantly altering the loot system, then your trying to change d2 into something else.
This game was marketed as a remaster. “The same classic gameplay preserved”. To quote rod ferguson. “This is a remaster, not a remake. We dont want to make something that looks like diablo 2 but isn’t”.
If they decide to build remake with all the changes you want fine but that’s not what they said d2r is. Yes I know they made plenty of small changes. The graphics big and well done. But none of these changes were significant enough to bastardized the original game
No i am not. The lobbi needs to change, and the game needs more content. Farming for the sake of farming is awful and most people did that in 1999 because there werent many options, now a days there are much better games.
Honestly if you just change the lobbi and people can search games they want, it alredy changes a lot. If you like farming just for farming good for you but that will kill the game. Diablo is by far my favorite game and i was still playing the original one before D2R was announed. But D2R is extremely dated when you put in contrast with todays game styles.
How is farming for gear in D2+LoD expansion and current D2R worse than farming gear in MMOs like FF14? Atleast in D2R the gear isn’t content gated by requiring a party. Are you all going to rage at MMO companies next until they make current raid only gear available in solo play?
I dont know about FF14, and i think games that rely on farming are usually poorly designed games. However, in mmos you usually farm and then a new dungeons comes along, you farm and then pvp, you walk around the world as it is massive and has things to do. Thats completely differente then D2R where you have literally nothing to do other then farming.
D2 mods like project d2 solved the endgame issue with Maps. Yeah, I know it’s basically another version of rifts, but it gives players something else to do beyond kill baal or diablo for the 500th time. Traditionally the endgame in d2 was pvp, but in this newer remake I don’t know how well the pvp has aged with modern games out that actually have quality, balanced pvp.
I am all for more story content and special areas that give more loot that allows more build options. I just don’t want the game rewarding the lazy or making acquiring something like a BoTD no longer feel like an accomplishment. I also don’t want the power creep happening. I was fully geared back in old D2 but I still need to acquire the top gear in D2R. I’m fine with it taking longer than it took me to acquire said items before. When I was gearing up I met people with a similar mindset as me which helped. Each of us chose an item and if the item dropped said item would go to the person who wanted the item when the run started. D2R currently has the ability to have teamwork but it isn’t required.
Nobody wanted that dumpster fire.
