Can we get at least an acknowledgment from someone at blizz that S9 will even be a thing?
We’ll likely hear something official later this week.
Many companies have a schedule. They cant post information in advance. D2 is low priority game. They will do a reset when its not interfering with other high priority games.
They want to make profit and dont want to lower players buying decisions do to other games resets. This is marketing startegy they have so you will make decisions most profitable to them. Its about marketing and manipulation. Not about not caring. If they wanted they could keep set in stone ladder dates for next decade. But they need to keep dates moving so they can have a method of making the most money.
Its a very good thing we got a game remaster at all. They could have made D4 and never look back.
If its like 2 last ladders we can expact reset at end of November. But again they can change anything in the last moment.
Additionally if there are no updates in game for few ladder restes (during peak of other new profitable game in the same franchise) this does not mean there wont be any big updates in the future.
What they could do is to make this game a $10 monthy sub now (profit = updates) and make a new game expansion once D4 have all expansions done and its steady money maker. Paying $40 (cost of 1 meal at good restaurant) for a game once and expecting constant updates and ability to play for infinite time is delusional.
I’m not sure many would subscribe - I certainly wouldn’t.
I thought they announced a yearly expansion for d4?
The last meaningful update in LoD was in 2005. Noone in their right mind would expect years and years of updates in d2r. And after Mosaic, I’m actually glad.
I would, sorry. $10 month for one of best games i played is ok. They can make $10 month for online with updates, and keep one time box only option for single player with current patch (or even ability to select patches before). This would be fair.
don’t be. Anyone can decide how they would handle this.
(and I know you weren’t seriously sorry )
I just don’t really think they would be able to improve the game. Selecting patches in offline mode would be nice.
If they want to monetize D2:R, they can do it with skins/transmogs. There are plenty of people that will spend to make their characters/weapons look different. One big requirement for me for this to become true is that there must be a way turn skins off. I wouldn’t care if showing skins was on by default with a fresh installation, as long as there is an option to turn them off.
Blizzard, where’s the D2:R Carbot graphic conversion? :o
Rush for forge is perfect
They just need to come back one more time, at the very least, to remove it.
Imagine all mosaics turn into “gemmed greater claws”.
What a day that would be.
Yep, the forum would be rolling with QQ threads.
I really don’t care about s9. But W1 and W2 remaster!!!
Whew, I would NEVER pay a sub for this game. I love this game, that is such a crap take its laughable. More power to you I guess.
Look if they would do some meaningful updates to the game than its worth it. And if they knew they need to keep people hooked for subs they may listen to the forums. One can dream.
- Make it so hostile mercs and pets can be killed if they walk out of town
- Make it so terror mode difficulty is set to max players in game (and stays even if they leave). So tz enjoyers can join a baal game or something and finish the entire zone on p8
- Make it so eth items drop more once you are level 99
- Have a separate charm and item inventory
- Make some tz or just zone in general have greater mob density
I’m sure there are other good ideas, just do some of these things if low dev work. Then make the items have skins or something to monetize in a non pay to win manner.
D2 is still the best Diablo game by far. It’s itemization blows away all other Diablo games and it’s pvp is by far the best so it truly has a great end game.
I actually was /20chars
I think if there wasn’t a next season they would let us know. Also, I don’t see why they would cut off seasons for now. They still make money with D2.
