Can u empty socketed items from runewords?

with recipe, u can empty out sockets destroying the socketed items. Does it work for runewords?

Yes it works for runewords as well.

Wait… what? How do you destroy a socketed item and keep the runes?

You can’t. You can do the following though:

Socketed item + scroll of town portal + Hel rune in cube. This consumes the Hel rune and destroys the socketed runes or jewels, but leaves the item intact with its sockets empty.

Edit: Early morning misread. There is no way to remove and keep socketed gems, jewels, or runes. You can remove them and keep the base item as mentioned though.

You can’t. You can remove gems/runes in a base using a recipe but those runes/gems are destroyed but the base with open sockets can be used for a different runeword or gems.
