Can I still upgrade my Elite Weapon with Horadric Cube?

Hi guys, just a quick question. I have a Nord Tenderizer, can I upgrade it with Horadric Cube recipe to upgrade its base damage? Understand that the Nord is an Elite Unique Mace weapon.

Is there a level above elite that I’m not aware of?

I must admit, that was actually my first question too.

i guess its no then :frowning:

yea definitely not :frowning: the only thing that would be possibly stronger is an ethereal version of the weapon. but since it doesn’t have repair/indestructible mod you’ll need a zod :<

I recommend an ethereal Demon Limb.

The cube recipe(s) will take a normal class unique or rare item and upgrade to the exceptional version (changes base item not attributes) of that item. There are also recipes to go from the exceptional version to the elite version. But they don’t upgrade the “base damage” per se, just the item type it is based on.

The higher end versions have higher damage or defense ranges as well as higher requirements, so whatever modifiers the item you’re upgrading has to defense or damage will be multiplied against the higher base, resulting in better damage or defense.

As Nord’s is already an elite class item with base Truncheon, there’s nothing else to upgrade it to, so it is not eligible for the upgrade.

when the next expansion comes they’re gonna have to add another level after elite.
OP is just ahead of his time

what word could be used to be better than “elite”? cant come up with anything.

At the risk of giving them bad ideas

Epic
Legendary
Ancient
Primal

(the last 3 will cause rage b/c of D3 overlap which makes me feel like ActiBlizz would do it)

Yea… imagine shoehorning a absolutely terrible game into a remastered classic?

Yup, which is why I called them bad ideas; D2 with another item tier named something that was used in D3 is still D2 where it counts in terms of the mechanics, loot, etc. so I’m not too worried about the names - I am however worried about the idea of an additional additional tier of items and the power creep associated with it.

uniques can’t be both eth and indestructable(except ethereal edge, throw weapons can have replenish). You’ll never see an eth coa for example.

Not saying you said they can, just adding info.

Super secret weapon you can only unlock if you go Imperial.

Well they didn’t resurrect this game for the lulz… I’m sure they do plan on adding on some stuff and probably will be ladder only?

That literally do though. The base damage of a short sword is less than a gladius which is less than a falcata. That is the only purpose of upgrading normal to exceptional and exceptional to elite.

Understood, however OP said “base damage” in his post, and seemed to think he could further upgrade an already elite item. So I was making the distinction that it wasn’t an arbitrary “base damage” upgrade, but rather the change in bases to a base that had higher base damage.

I don’t think I said base enough above, so I’ll have to say base a few more times.

One other reason I’ve upgraded normal belts before to exceptional was to get more potion slots, so damage/defense isn’t the only reason, but I agree that it typically is.

One exception - an upgraded ethereal Ginther’s Rift is both ethereal and technically indestructible since it has no durability.
