Can I gift the game to a friend? I am pretty much done

Can I gift the game that I bought for myself to a friend? I am uncertain if there is a cdkey and/or a means for the friend to install the game on their system after I have thoroughly uninstalled it from mine.

As for D2:R, I am done. After two weeks and a few days, where in the first three days, the game was completely unplayable and Blizzard’s refund algorithms decided to throw me under the bus, I am hoping to pass this game to a friend who is far more patient than I am. I will eat the loss of $63 for a broken game. I am a caregiver and my free time is right where the huge queues are at their worst.

Thank you to all who can help. I am guessing that the transfer of the game to a friend is probably frowned upon by our Blizzard overlords. So, I guess that I’ll prepare to eat the cost and move on. There are so many game devs whose multiplayer games I do hope to try with the hope to share those moments with family and with friends. Games ought to be fun and connective.

Goodbye Blizzard. A huge thank you to David Brevik and to his peers for all the wonderful memories of Diablo 1, Diablo 2, and LOD. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

No, that would mean less money for Blizzard.

No. The game key is a one use thing. Blizzard ties the game license to your Bnet account which you don’t own, can’t share, and can’t gift/sell.

Not that people don’t do that anyway, but if there is ever an issue with the account you need Govt issued ID to prove you are the registered account holder. Sometimes more than that. If they think an account is in dispute or sold they often close it permanently. People who used fake names or were “given” accounts often find themselves perma locked out down the road.

Only you are allowed to access an account registered in your name. We don’t recognize the transfer of accounts between individuals. Activities performed on your account are your liability.

You may not share your account or password with anyone, except if you are a parent or guardian, in which case you may permit one minor child to use your account. You may not use your account at the same time, and you are liable for activities conducted by the minor child.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and the use of your user name and password. You are responsible for all uses of your information, even if you don’t authorize them. Security of your account is your responsibility.

Oh? After doing a full uninstall, there are so many Blizzard and BattleNet registry pointers/data that remain. I just went through deleting about 40 or so. As this is the first time in over a decade or so that I had to delete a full game, I had forgotten how software leaves little things on our hard drives as gifts. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Done. Windows registry has been purged of Blizzard, Diablo, and BattleNet references. I must share that I do feel a sadness that the game failed to be the wonderful follow-up to the legacy games. With that said, I already feel a sense of peace for having let D2:R go. I will miss a number of the good natured forum members. Take care all!
