i really want to start using my runes for my early play through on a amazon. i thought i put together a couple of different rune words in the right order but they didnt work. looking for some rune support so i can fix what im doing wrong and so i can find better combos for early levels.
I don’t think I can post links but diabloii . net is a good source of info. Most runeword errors occur by putting runes into the wrong item. What did you try making and with what?
for armor i think it was bramble from the original guide that came with the classic using eth+ral to no effect and another for armor i dont remember the name (i think it was called stealth) using Tal+Eth both were for a lower level but both went in but no effect i figured the same rule applies that you couldnt have more sockets then the rune word needed. i have a feeling that any socketed weapon with a magic effect preloaded might also prevent the rune word from loading as well but im not sure and need confirmation on that. as far as i know im putting the right words together but unsure if im missing a combining rule or not
The item can’t have more sockets than needed and can’t be magical, rare, unique or set. It has to be a white item.
if i was to make a dev suggestion is say put in a rune table with the available rune words preloaded and the effects listed. if you bring the right gear and runes the tab for that rune word brightens and becomes available kinda like charsi’s imbue table. it also would make it easier to find specific combos for say a character class or a specific weapon type (weapon type made faster by dragging the weapon to the table and a list of rune words applicable to that show up on the side for viewing)
I think that’d be pretty cool too.
did the devs also restrict class gear such as amazon bows from rune combos (they always give pluses to bow skills ditto on the spears to spear skills)
There shouldn’t be a restriction on class specific items because you can make a Spirit with a pally only shield. As long as the item name isn’t blue, yellow, green or gold you should be good.
PureDiablo is the website I found all the current Runes and Rune Words for D2: Resurrected. Previously, I used Arreat Summit. Now that Resurrected is out, I tripped over PureDiablo and it looks really nice. You can even filter the list to show Rune Words for a specific class or piece of gear. Very nicely laid out.
if my research in the background is accurate some rune words were also changed since the original expansion final update such as bramble now being 4 runes instead of two and much higher level but no real difference to effect bonus.
Yes, it requires - Ral, Ohm, Sur, Eth
just finding gear alone that has more then three sockets is almost impossible before the final boss in the 5th act so making an effort to go for any rune words above 3 sockets early on is effectively out of the question but if you can afford to hold on to runes and gems (filling your box inventory and reducing usable space for other things) till such time as you can get those items with the right socket numbers feels like a long winded chore and in all likelihood you’ll find a better item then what you were saving for in the first place. if any of that makes sense
It depends.
Some runewords are really just for niche builds. Bramble, for instance, is good for builds like plague amazon or poison nova necromancer.
Other runewords are pretty much universally good, like Enigma. However, Enigma is expensive.
Still others are universally good for their level and are cheap. Stealth comes to mind here.
It all depends on what you’re looking to do. A 4 socket armor won’t come to you until Hell, but there are plenty of 3 soc’s.
this may be a noob question but i keep hearing word that you can transfer (twink) gear and weapons to other characters you have without needing multiple accounts to do so. i have no idea how but i feel like it could be useful to set up other classes making the play-through faster if in fact it was true.
Other than using the shared stash and then xfer’ing the item over to another character’s personal stash, I have no idea.
so thats what the shared tabs are good for i thought those were for leaving stuff out for your online friends/allies to pick through like a flea market minus paying for it
Nope haha. They’re an idea introduced I think in large part due to this mod for the original game called plugy that expanded your stash and gave you a ton of shared stash pages.
its likely a redundant question but if the socketed gear just says mechanics (+1-2 sockets) shouldnt those still work for runes or is it still magic locked.
Unfortunately those will not work. Their magical modifier is the sockets themselves.
sounds a bit pointless on the face of it but it is what it is
