Hi! I have been getting really into D2R and in trades people will reference JSP pricing. This often seems below what I see actively traded on here and in discord server for various items. When I go to the site it is really dated and confusing to use. Can someone kind of explain how it works?
its like the british government of diablo 2
its for people who stole their parents credit card to buy forum gold.
JSP has its own currency to use on its site, forum gold, or something like that. Players can buy and sell items using forum gold so they don’t have to use runes or other items, allowing for easier trading and more incremental buildup of wealth. Players arrange trades on JSP, then meet in games to complete the trades. It may also be possible to purchase forum gold with money, I don’t actually know as I have never used JSP.
The only part of this I have a real issue with is the fact that forum gold cam be used between ladders, meaning that anyone who uses JSP and sells their gear at the end of one ladder or season will have a bunch of forum gold to spend as soon as the new season starts, defeating the purpose of a ladder reset which is supposed to be a clean slate and even start for all players.
I think that gold was intended to be used this way in game originally, but that clearly never happened, especially with all the duping that used to occur.
Lol I appreciate all the responses. Thanks @Raptillicus for the breakdown. It seems like RWT to me based on what you’re saying. Kind of confused why it is allowed
yes you can buy forum gold with real money through the website people that run it to get all the best gear easily and paying the big guys at the top
edit: also the website itself is like something from the mid 2000s
It’s a technical grey area as to why it is allowed and not against Blizzard’s terms of service. Many years ago, forum gold was an actual main currency used in another game that the owner of JSP created so although you could pay real money for it, it wasn’t deemed a RWT as the gold wasn’t a real world currency.
also its extremely toxic community is contributed by the fact that people with lots of forum gold act like they are gods among men and its not fun
You’re not wrong, but that type of elitism exists in any thing where you can accumulate items/wealth, it is not specific to JSP.
yet its not entirely legitimate to the gameplay so regardless it’s less than entertaining to be a part of so i don’t use it and i enjoy my game fully
edit: i suggest not using it
I used to use it back in the day and it makes it fairly easy to trade because of the straightforward use of currency and more organized trading, however I am against that the website creators are profiting from selling forum gold. It’s an endless currency that comes from air. It actually seems like original crypto for d2! I never actually purchased forum gold, rather just traded for it, but it is unfair that items can simply be purchased with real money, and pooled to some rich guy who made a website.
With or without JSP, you will have people buying/selling in game items for real world currencies. JSP just makes it a bit easier to do.
yea thats the problem
I used to be against JSP but the joke of a trading system D2 has in place gave me no choice. I would gladly ditch JSP if D2 made HR’s, SoJ’s, and gems stackable so I can acquire ingame currency without taking up so much of my inventory space.
