Bugs - QoL - A Comprehensive List

In an effort to both help the D2R developers to improve the game by squashing bugs and implementing QoL features, I am starting a comprehensive list where other forum users can contribute by posting here with any bugs you find, or QoL features you would like to see. I will add your name next to the item (bug or QoL feature you suggest) so we know that it is community driven.

Bugs:

  • Visual bug – Follower exp bar looks full at all times.

  • Ancients Quest – If a sorceress uses telekensis on the alter, it bugs the encounter, and a town portal must be opened to reset the encounter. Only a character manually clicking on the alter starts the encounter.

  • Still experiencing crashes randomly, ill keep my eye out on what activities im doing more closely to put in specific instances of crashes

  • Visual bug – sometimes mobs and bosses look like they are a few yards away from you, yet they are doing their melee animation and hitting you from yards away.

  • Stash gold counter acts funky from time to times, saying I got 0 gold. When you switch between acts that counter sometimes resets. --------Contributed by Ulysses31

  • When picking up the Horadric Mallus, the Sorc would say “I hope the sisters appreciate this thing” or something to that effect. That voice queue seems to be gone. --------Contributed by Francois424

  • When the NPC audio is set to “Audio and Text” all NPC and PC audio is gone as well as Cinematic sounds. ----------Contributed by OddBall

QoL:

  • Lobby / Game Join / Creation – When clicking on a game in the lobby, the Game Name bar does not populate with the name of the game you clicked on. This was a feature of the original diablo 2 battle net lobby. It made joining new games easier because the name would populate and all you had to do was change the game number to the next highest to join the next.

  • Lobby Game Browser Filter - Often times when looking for games, most games have been opened for quite awhile, thus players don’t want to join games that typically have been opened and monsters have already been killed, especially as it relates to baal or chaos runs or other exp run games. Adding filters to the game list would help. So if you only wanted to see games created in the last 5 minutes, you could. ----Contributed by Cyx

  • Withdrawing gold – when clicking on withdraw gold from your stash, the full gold amount is auto populated. If you want to get less out than what it populated with, you have to manually click in the box, and hit the backspace key until its erased and then type in the amount you want to withdraw. It should be highlighted or be allowed to mouse click and drag to highlight the amount and simply hit the delete key to remove the amount from the box. Its just tedious to withdraw gold at the moment.

  • Depositing gold - when depositing gold and the particular stash tab you are depositing to is not yet full, but almost full, and you click deposit from your character backpack, it wont deposit unless its an exact amount. It should deposit any gold up to the amount of the stash tab being full and leave the rest in your character backpack.

  • Item linking – You cant currently link items to people not in your game. Should have a way if they are in a diablo 2 lobby, or in a diablo 2 game to receive item links from people in other games if they are being whispered or on your friends list.

  • Trading – Some blizzard official trade website would be amazing. Something similar to PoE’s trade website would make it 100x easier to connect with people to get trades done. Stash tabs would need to be dynamic and linked to a trade website API, but it could be done with development effort. Or some sort of official blizzard “forum gold” system where people could trade “forum gold” for items. D2jsp is the unofficial site where items are traded with their forum gold, but would be nice to have an official blizzard site to trade with some API integration to make trading easier. In essence, more trades would get done, and the economy would flow a whole lot cleaner if trading was more accessible. Imagine being able to right click an item in your stash and set a rune amount that you want for it, and it being listed on blizzard’s official trade website so other players looking for that item could click 1 button and an automated whisper dialogue is created for them to whisper you in game to get that trade done.

  • Armory – would be nice to click on a player avatar in the lobby and view their current gear / skill setup.

  • In game, game reset – Would be really nice if there was a way to have an in game vote system where if the majority of players in the game wanted to “reset” the current game, instead of everyone leaving the game, then manually typing in the next game, the game would just “reset” and everyone would be at the starting position in whatever town they were currently in, and all the mobs and bosses and chests and lootable things would be reset allowing you to continue your runs, without leaving the game. The game creator would have to initiate the vote.

  • Expand the lobby system – the current lobby feels very basic and no where near the robustness of the original D2 bnet lobby. IE, in the old lobby, you could search for trade channels, or other chat channels, you could create your own lobby channels etc.

  • Stackable gems & runes – In Diablo 2, gold is basically a useless form of currency for the purposes of trading. Runes and Gems have unofficially taken the place of currency in the game. If we are to have this as a medium of trade, then the lower and mid runes which are much more abundant than the high runes would serve as the common trading currency. Stackable runes would then be necessary because of the nature of how they can be combined to make higher runes. Not only would it be an inventory saver, it would also make it to where most unique items and rare items in the game could be traded for several runes of the lower quality without filling up someones inventory. Maybe a “rune & gem currency stash tab” would be the place where they would all go and again, they would serve as the “official” trading currency of the game.

  • More stash tabs – Should have a way for players to either earn more stash tabs, or buy them as micro transactions. This would give blizzard another revenue source, and make players happy who like engaging in gear collecting / trading. Make the stash tabs reasonably priced. Maybe 2-3 bucks per tab.

  • Loot filters - an option to create loot filters would be really nice. Everything being white colored in the game that isnt magic, rare, unique, set, or rune can make you miss something you want but just didn’t see due to item clutter and no visible way to be eye catching. Some people want to pick up certain bases and would be nice to have a loot filter highlight them. Some people would rather not see “useless” sets and uniques, and would like to filter those out -------- Contributed by Nav

  • Shift +click to identify item (or right click the identify book, then hold shift and you can identify any items in your inventory by clicking on them once without having to go back to the identify book to right click it again to identify 1 item) --------- Contributed by Nav

  • Social Improvements - I would like to see my friends joining games, being able to talk to them easier with /r and /f m or atleast something better than always clicking on chat boxes to switch around and missing what is said in game etc its so frustrating, social system needs lots of improvements -----------Contributed by Kappa

I rather stop playing than paying for stash tabs any money.
It was said the official way will be possible to play and we had the chance to create unlimited accounts and this way unlimited MULES.
So giving this old game microtransactions kills it for me.
So the idea you wrote is absurd.

Just delete the char creation limit or put it up to 5000 chars and add a list to scroll through characters. This way we find anything we need.

Stash gold counter acts funky from time to times, saying I got 0 gold.

I think it’s when you switch between acts that counter sometimes resets.

Creating multiple characters for the purposes of “muleing” items is just plain outdated and absurd.

If they can create a way to add a little monetization to the game that is completely optional (ie you don’t have to buy it to play the game) there is no harm in that. Again, like i said, make it a nominal fee, 2-3 bucks a tab and its all good.

Its an old game and this was the original experience. If you dont like it, why you wanna transform this game into a microtransaction hell?

Just lift up the limit, its 1 number to change, nothing totally new to integrate in which programmers need lots of work to do.
This way its easier and the experience is like all expected it to be.
You know we need about 1000 Tabs * 3 bucks. Ok fine, pay that. Im out if Blizz do that and you can play this game alone when all left it.

So hopefully Blizzard will stay to the original

Personally, I’d prefer they didn’t “modernize” the game’s UI/UX features beyond what they already have. I much rather preferred D2 to D3 and am thoroughly enjoying Resurrected for what it is- Diablo 2 with a fresh coat of paint.

I didn’t expect Diablo 4’s UI with Diablo 2’s maps and story. Am not disappointed.

Are you actually being serious?

Like really, are you actually being serious?

You are so concerned about what other people choose to spend their money on, rather than minding your own business and not participating in optional services for the game? Wow you have serious issues man.

Why is it a problem for you if people choose to optionally spend money on micro transactions that have no effect on how you play the game?

This isn’t the same game from 20 years ago. Adding in QoL features was something they mentioned multiple times that would be doing for this game to modernize it and make it appealing and accessible for the modern audience.

They even mentioned they would be looking into adding more content and features on an ongoing basis. Thats very cool to me. Expanding on a game from 20 years ago to a) make it more modern, b) to provide more content and features takes money. It requires MONEY to support a development team. It takes MONEY to build new features. 2-3 bucks for optional stash tabs helps support that.

You really need to chill about what other people choose to spend THEIR money on.

-Why is it a problem for you if people choose to optionally spend money on micro transactions that have no effect on how you play the game?

Because this problem would not be the original Diablo 2 experience.
Stash tabs by mules were FREE.
You want to change that.

We dont need “new features”. Just fix the bugs and they can continue to work on the next game.
The game is already perfect it doesnt need further development after solving the bugs and giving the original experience. They already earned money 2 times with the same game, while a second time they didnt need to program the whole game from scratch. That saved them already much money to give us new graphics.

Diablo 2 is not a MMORPG, its a classic experience with new graphics. We dont need more than that.

Just give back the MULEs and fix bugs, then move on to the next title to develop a new game or modernize another. Diablo 2 is already perfect.

First of all, Diablo 2 is not perfect. It is very good, but no game is ever perfect.

That being said, if all they wanted to do was put a graphics skin over the original, thats all they would have done. They wouldn’t have made ANY changes. But no, they never said thats all they wanted to do. They literally told us in communications and forum posts that they wanted to include QoL updates and potentially new features going forward.

Like it or not, this is a new game. Its based on the old Diablo 2, but its still a new game.

This gives them the ability to modernize it while keeping the gameplay and spirit of the original game intact.

This is why players who played WoW classic wanted classic era realms with new content (raids, dungeons, etc), because it would be in the spirit of the original game (server communities, harder leveling, original skills and gear), but would give them more content to enjoy.

You can still make mules in D2. They didn’t take that away. You just cant make hundreds of accounts and make hundreds of characters to “mule” items in an archaic and outdated way.

You want to know why we all aren’t cow farmers / milkers? Because we can go to our local grocery store a mile away, pick up some ground beef / milk, and be on our way without having to raise cows and be a cow farmer to get our ground beef and milk (which would take monumental effort if all we wanted was ground beef and milk for ourselves).

Similarly, for people who are pack rats, or collectors in D2, having optional, purchasable stash tabs would be the efficient, low impact way of doing that.

Did you actually like making mule characters and “parking” them in “park” games for hours to make them permanent, just so you had an extra 60 ish stash slots? Did you like making multiple accounts to do the same thing over and over? How many hours of not playing the game did you do? You actually think thats what makes a “perfect” game?

lol. No. It just makes for a cumbersome, outdated, old way of doing things that technology has provided us a better solution.

I dont believe on QoL for Diablo 2.

I want Diablo 2 to become as original as it was.

If you want QoL, do it on Diablo3 or on Diablo 4.

At least the developer said before release, they wouldnt implement any microtransactions by themself. But see peoples like you asking for it makes it really worse.

Id they keep on their promise, your wish will never come true and thats for good. You want support Blizz more? Dont know what to do with your money? Just write them an E-mail and ask them to put some monthly amount of money on their bank account, im sure they would accept it. But dont force your ideas on the whole society.

I dont care parking my characters while i was eating or doing something else. That never destroyed my Diablo 2 experience.

Its not a new game, press “G” ingame and see what magic happens. Thats your new game.

I had like 10 accounts or something. So just let peoples have around 200 characters should be fine.

-[…]archaic and outdated way.

Yeah you dont need to play then if you want a second PoE game.
Just wait a bit longer and you can switch to PoE 2. Maybe you can buy some stash tabs there and get happiness out of that. (Strange fetish btw.)

For you the game is not perfect then maybe you are not part of the old fanbase who played Diablo 2 for many years over and over again.

The original game still functions and plays exactly how it did. You can actually play the original if you want to.

In instances like WoW, there were no original options. Which is why they made “wow classic” but in your case, you can still play the original diablo 2 without any issues.

Like it or not, this is a new game, just based on the old D2. You better get on board with the idea of QoL improvements, because they already told the community thats what they would be doing.

You still compare this great Hack’n’Slay title with WoW (MMORPG).
I have no words for this behavior.

Not on microtransactions. Not buying gear from a website. If it’s grindy before, make it the same as grindy as before… no shortcuts/cheating.

Diablo 3 - Auction House came after Diablo 2. And I hated Diablo 3 Auction House back then. Diablo 3 became the best game for me when they got rid of Auction House… got rid of real money to buy a gear. I dont want them to fall into a trap destroying the original Diablo 2 experience.

You really are obtuse.

I never said i wanted a second poe game. But it doesn’t take a real smart person to know that some of the QoL things poe has makes the experience better, especially as it relates to trading, and seeing as how Diablo 2 is a game build on the premise of trading, it makes sense to find better solutions to help the community actually trade.

You are advocating for a system that is archaic, old, outdated. Its the equivalent of youd rather everyone make their BLT from scratch (ie raising pigs, feeding them, caring for them, slaughtering them, curing the pig stomach, slicing the bacon, then casting your own iron pans, creating your own fire, cooking the bacon, planting lettuce, tomatoes, and all the ingredients to make the dressing, planting the wheat to make bread and making the sandwich yourself) This is just plain stupid now days.

Thats why we have grocery stores.

Modernizing how trade works in a game based on trading is just smart, and it improves the quality of life of ALL players.

Maybe you had the time and wherwithal to sit in games to park your mules while you ate food or did other stuff at home, but players want to play the game now days, not wait in game while doing other crap at home for the opportunity to play later after their mules are permed.

Why do you have a problem with a stash tab microtransaction anyway, other than “it wasn’t in the original d2?” This is not the original D2.

I will quickly give opinion on all your points from someone who’s Played since patch 1.0, hardcore mode only

Bugs:

  • Visual bug – Follower exp bar looks full at all times…

Sure sounds legit

  • Ancients Quest – If a sorceress uses telekensis on the alter…

Yes that’s a big bug, needs fixing

  • Still experiencing crashes randomly…

Yes huge bug, please fix, especially for hardcore players

  • Visual bug – sometimes mobs and bosses look like they are a few yards away…

That’s normal, not a bug. Since the beginning this is how it is. There will always be lag/visual desync on bnet

  • Stash gold counter acts funky from time to times, saying I got 0 gold…

I have never experienced this, don’t know if it’s real or not.

QoL:

  • Lobby / Game Join / Creation – When clicking on a game in the lobby…

This is true. It was annoying that game name doesn’t prepopulate when clicking on it. Also, it’s annoying how I can’t highlight the game name and copy onto clipboard. Please fix this

  • Lobby Game Browser Filter - Often times when looking for games, most games have been opened for quite awhile…

I never found it annoying that there is no time filter. Because I usually click on the game name and manually see how Long the game has been Up for. I don’t care if time filter is added it not.

  • Withdrawing gold – when clicking on withdraw gold from your stash…

I agree, amount should be pre highlighted
So I can easily enter new amount. This was annoying to deal with

  • Depositing gold - when depositing gold and the particular stash tab you are depositing to is not yet full…

I agree. This was really annoying. Fix this

  • Item linking – You cant currently link items to people not in your game…

Yeah this would be nice to add. Not a deal-breaker but would be nice.

  • Trading – Some blizzard official trade website would be amazing…

Way to much developmental effort. Well honestly the idea is to get rid of trading sites, AND ONLY TRADE WITHIN GAME. that’s my opinion

  • Armory – would be nice to click on a player avatar in the lobby and view their current gear / skill setup…

100% disagree with this. Do not add armory. This will allow people to look at pkers / duelers gear and prepare for the fight. We HAVE TO KEEP PEOPLES GEAR ANONYMOUS.

  • In game, game reset – Would be really nice if there was a way to have…

STRONGLY disagree. We need to have new games flowing over and over so people who didn’t get the chance to go in game can go in next attempt. The solution to ur issue is already there, people in game decide on a private game and password if they want to stick Together again for next game.

  • Expand the lobby system – the current lobby feels very basic…

I agree. But I got a feeling they will add This stuff when ladder seasons hits. They are already thinking of this imo.

  • Stackable gems & runes…

I actually wouldn’t mind this. This should really really help the trading community IN GAME. Blizz if u guys can stack. Runes and gems I’m Happy.

  • More stash tabs…

I would rather make Mules than pay extra money for stash tabs BUT I know there’s people out there that would pay for stash tabs, so In that case I don’t care if more stash tabs via microtransactions get added it Not

  • Loot filters…

I disagree. Honestly I think part of the free for all loot system I like is having the clutter and Finding the gold text within . In party play this is more of a fun way of picking up items. If there was a loot filter, party play free for all loot would get to hard. The way we have it Now makes it fair the way everyone has a shot Picking up items. Don’t add loot Filter

  • Shift +click to identify item…

Sure I can see how his can be annoying. But it’s literally a second time saver. I don’t care if this gets added it not

Wrong, it is the original Diablo 2.
They added a few modern graphics and you think that opens the way to change the whole game? Wrong idea.
You like PoE? You can play it, you can buy stash tabs, thats what you need right?

The traditional trading was fun in Diablo 2, you came in contact to peoples, talked and discussed. Find many new friends this way. Very charming way to communicate and you can make your deals on how you argue with the other person.

If you look up PoE on poetrade. What you do? You click the button “whisper”. Only choose the cheapest item. You get invited visit his hideout and get the trade done and leave group. No one plays with the other person, you mostly play the game alone and have no reason to setup groups. PoE killed itself with that. Game lobby is empty no one wanna make groups not even on Hardcore.

You want the same in Diablo 2 ? Solo play forever and no contact to peoples?
Thats not Diablo 2.
Here we still talk to peoples to trade and come together to play.
We dont want a singleplayer only experience like PoE is now.

I’ve reproduced it twice and have seen it on someone else’s stream
When picking up the Horadric Mallus, the Sorc would say “I hope the sisters appreciate this thing” or something to that effect. That voice queue seems to be gone.

The person on stream had a Druid, and I paid attention, and there was no voice queue either when he picked the horadic Mallus.

It’s a minor bug/issue, definitely not game breaking, but I thought I’d put it out.

If they made stash tabs purchased in game for gold I would be okay with that, but no tabs for cash. That being said, I think the 20 character limit being raised or removed would be a better choice than opening the can of works that is adding an option to purchase tabs.

Also, I’m all for stacking runes and gems, but only in the stash. I have seen some concepts for a rune/gem stash tab that I liked.
