D2R has many changes to buff characters and some of them can clear P8 like eat a cake. Should we buff the monster so they can be harder for caster but still ok for melee?
But if you buff them, how is Mr. Lama gonna break his speedrun records.
Seriously…we should stop talking about casters and melee and instead talk about Physical and Non-Physical damage dealers.
Mosaic is stomping the game and is very much a melee build.
Best boss killer in the game (before Mosaic) was Javazon.
Best MF Char in the game is also a melee char as in Pitzerker
There is no way they gonna make the game harder; they use the patching approach from D3, which means: buff the numbers from the player. That way they ensured that underperforming D3 builds did better in the new season, while the old builds still perform to the same level.
I agree but just wait for crying of people that think whiping everything at p8 solo is ok. They always cry about lowering power of classes.
No. This is like the red queen chase. Non stop buffs. Buff skills, buff items, buff monsters. And again…!
You destroy the entire game. But oh no, id there is 1 nerf, the entire forum goes crazy.
The end result being that we get bigger numbers.
cough Diablo 3 cough
Diablo 3? That’s a bit far fetched and extreme… not to mention reductionist.
With the introduction of TZ monsters level 91+ should absolutely be harder. There is a scale that exists in game. Also take that damn charge no consume off mosaic or cap it at 75% or both.
This scale effects act bosses so you know don’t go crazy with it. But games always move in this direction. No game is ever perfect even after 20 years of tweaks. You get people crying they want pre 1.10 LOD but the game had its issues before then too. You can’t win, bringing melee up to where casters are should absolutely come with monsters that hit harder in the end game. I want to fear the game again not mindlessly hunt runes
You have the L60 to L70 item buff with the RoS expansion, plus the addition of Loot 2.0. You got more powerful items much faster than before. That was already a huge jump.
Go look at the history of highest greater rifts completed over the span of the many seasons…
Diablo 3 is a perfect example of what happens when they buff buff buff… They just happened to have 64 bit signed integers at their disposal, as well as the greater rift progression system in place that could handle the massive growth of the health pools and damage numbers. GR 165 is the theoretical maximum they could take it before they’d start running into 64 bit buffer overrun errors.
All when these same player perceived difficulty curves could have been accomplished with much smaller numbers.
I guess they figured that people feel more powerful with bigger numbers on their stick and armor, not to mention all of the multipliers.
I mean there are so many issues with D3 I don’t even know where to begin. D2 I Hope won’t become that but with things like metamorphosis and mosaic, idk if this group of devs can cut it. Nerf grief and spirit, bring other items up. Bring monsters up. Remove conc synergy to Blessed Hammer, bring synergies up. Blessed hammer can lose 10k dmg and still be S tier. Minor tweaks will make this game enjoyable for another handful of seasons at least.
Honestly monster health is okay I don’t mind end game geared players 1 shotting p8 content. It takes a ton of hours to get there. But make their damage and attack rating scary. Even if they were so daring add a pool of auras to choose from that don’t suck for hell only. Might, conc, fan, conv, defiance, thorns would all be terrifying. Blessed aim and the holy auras are terrible without synergy, see fire golem.
There are so many tweaks this game could use to make it enjoyable and scary. D3 was dead from the start. I even played it more hours than I care to admit. Made some real money on AH. Was there in the trenches with a barb on inferno when that difficulty meant something. D3 combat is really the only thing I could take away and say was fun
No, this will weaken the builds that already are struggling.
Nerfs to various caster builds and light buffs to melee builds and itemisation are needed.
Nerfs to various caster builds and light buffs to melee builds and itemisation are needed.
Golden words.
This guy knows how this game should be.
Exactly. This monster buff would further reduce the viability of builds, even the ones that just got playable like druid summoner.
D2 at its core is about having fun with many builds and not just S tier ones. That makes D2 different.
By buffing the monsters, further skill buffs would be required, etc.
Also, Hammerdin or Light Sorc / Java with infinity do not care if a monster has 20% more life. A necro summoner or elemental bowama does care a lot though. Also all melee builds.
Yep it is finally time to nerf most op builds and items
The problem is that many players are allergic to nerfs, even if they are warranted. They only allow buffs but ignore the power creep issues that come with it.
Game feels too easy for you? It is your own fault for having clicked the easy-mode button. ![]()
Try playing any of the numerous classes/builds/playstyles people are asking to be buffed.
Try playing hardcore mode. Try playing hardcore only in public games online
My record is getting to act 2. ![]()
Why would anyone not play an existing op character? It makes you fall far behind others and even if you don’t race seeing others having it much easier takes fun away.
I always am frustrated 2 weeks after ladder starts because some stoopid javazon clears everything at p8 and I can not even touch a monster. What is the point of playing together in this case???
True, but I really do not again want mediocre builds to fall back into extremely bad by buffing monsters.
Nerf javazone and co instead. Problem solved.
fredi, it seems like you’ve changed your tone in this thread. slightly unhappy about too many buffs?
this team could be better. you’re right.
How did I change my tone?
I like buffs, but I also do not dislike nerfs. Unlike most vocal players it seems.
It feels like buffs are always accepted, while nerfs are considered bad and not welcome.
This comes with certain power creep problems though, and I have never said anything different.
It would be fun if they came up with a new pvp mode where players can control monsters and level up upon killing a player. That would be epic!
I still go back and play dungeon keeper occasionally ![]()
