Some skills need buffs. Which ones would you like to see buffed?
I Think first they should release the game as it was, then go from there.
Finally a change I can stand behind. There are unused skills that need to be used.
I propose a change model: “1 skill per character per season”.
Two people asking for skills to be buffed, yet provide no skills that do.
You don’t need to be a pro at D2 to figure out which skills are unused.
Listing them is redundant.
As much as I loved D2, the potential of the majority of the skills in the game is wasted either numerically, mechanically or both. While I know they’re not going to change any of them for release, I wouldn’t mind at all seeing changes or an optional version with changes later down the line.
Examples:
Frost Nova – has two synergies that don’t have a synergy with it and the two abilities that give it a bonus are better than it at AoE damage substantially, even without their synergies. Buff its damage and give it different synergies or perhaps buff its range.
Maybe make the 3 frost armors more interesting.
Telekinesis – significantly buff its damage, give it synergies and/or give it a new purpose such as pulling all enemies in a radius towards the target?
Maybe make putting more points in teleport do something more? Reduce the mana cost of all lightning spells or something?
Thunderstorm – not having specific synergies maybe makes sense since you want it to be more of a universal buff option, but maybe buff its base damage or give it a synergy with lightning mastery that makes it pierce lightning resistance or something?
Nova – give it synergies or buff its damage directly
Maybe make Blaze give you a movement speed buff?
Some abilities have really bad mechanics that would make them terrible to play with even if you buffed their damage. For example, Barb’s Leap Attack is incredibly clunky and awkward. It should be an AoE attack where you land. Maybe add a magic damage synergy from berserk or something.
Leap Attack and Charge should be usable when in melee range of a target also.
I think several auras, curses and other buffs could use something more to make them worth using.
Make Inner Sight do something in addition to -defense. Increased damage taken? Add a chance for crushing blows or open wounds or something?
Blessed Aim could use an additional affect (crit/CB/OW whatever)
Maybe give Meditation another synergy from Cleansing so you can just use that entire column combined into one aura (it already gets prayer)?
I don’t think people use the defensive auras much. Combine some of them via synergies since one alone isn’t attractive enough? IE: make salvation take a defense synergy from defiance or something.
Make curses like attract do something more (like make the target take X additional damage or lower their resists and defense).
Add hidden synergies to tooltips too so people know about the max resist bonus on resit auras or the energy shield/telek synergy.
Make holy bolts damage all enemies and pierce them, which would also give Fist of Heaven some potential in PvM.
Maybe remove player collision from bone prison and wall if you’re non-hostile with the necro? Or make players auto destroy them if trying to walk through them when no path is available?
Lower Resist should lower enemy magic resistance. It’s weird that it doesn’t. The description of the curse itself suggests that it should and it just makes sense since necros have magic attack options.
Blade Sentinel could use a mechanical overhaul. Maybe make it stick near you like a pet and auto fly through nearby enemies and buff its damage and give it synergies with the other blade skills?
Buff the other two blade skills and give them synergies as well.
Remove the awkward/hidden mechanic of Venom that essentially nerfs any other source of poison you use with it?
Maybe give Shadows a synergy from BoS, Fade and Venom?
Buff Psychic Hammer damage a lot and give it a synergy with mind blast?
The convert mechanic could probably use some changes also
Anyway… lots of other skills could probably at least use a number buff, better synergies (if they even have any at all) and in some cases mechanical tweaks.
I’ve always felt inferno and blaze were pretty useless myself.
I always missed the fire wave from D1. Non elemental bow skills could use a synergy. Perhaps some general dmg buffs could go a long way. I agree on the paladin auras though, mix in some synergies might make more of them interesting.
Psychic hammer is a cool skill with literally no use
Some random builds that could use a boost in no particular order.
Druid:
Vines and ravens could use a buff. Blind on ravens isn’t enough to make them viable when you can just outright stun things with Shockwave. Dire wolves and bear are both strong, especially in well geared hybrid builds, but a pure summoning druid lacks damage and a buff to ravens and vines could help without making the hybrids any stronger.
Armageddon is pretty bad, and despite being the only spell specifically usable while shape shifted, has essentially no use in a SS build. It doesn’t even synergize with Fire Claws???
Assassin:
Most of the charge skills are not worth using and are out damaged by just spamming finishers.
Amazon:
Melee/spear zon is pretty bad. Maybe poison jav could use a buff.
Then there’s stuff like low level spells like frost bolt that only exist as stepping stones and synergies to higher level skills. But not sure how to make them endgame usable without making them OP.
The barbarian skill - Grim ward
Just kidding
You got nothing.
There is nothing awkward nor clunky about Leap Attack. You just don’t know how to use the skill and on what monsters and in what areas. It works perfectly the way it was intended to be used.
The fact that you know nothing about the skill and how to use it leads me to believe you know nothing about all the other skills you mentioned that you think need a revamp.
Grim Ward is awesome when used the way it was designed to be used. I love it and have it hot keyed.
Buff this, nerf this, change that, remove that.
NO.
Then you shouldn’t play D2:R because they have already stated there will be changes…
CL: Yeah, we made a decision not to do balance changes right now, for the very reason that we want to make sure we deliver the authentic experience. Who knows what might happen in the future with feedback. I know our designers have a list of things they would love to do. So we’ll see how that goes going forward.
overall most of the skill having 0 synergie underperform
barbarian , Whirlwind
amazon , Jab , Guided Arrow, Multiple Shot
druid , Fury Maul
everything that use to be good in 1.09 get nerf to the ground and after underperform most physical skill .after 1,10 diablo 2 become a elemental damage game ,
Yeah. I think they definitely have a plan moving forward, but want to begin with most current version. If they don’t fork changes, players will always have the option to downgrade and play a mod.
This would be completely unacceptable, for obvious reasons.
lol
Opinions are cool, but yours is pretty baseless. You have no idea how it was intended to be used by the developers who created it 20 years ago. You have no idea if they were happy with the state of most of the skills which see little use.
It is both objectively awkward and clunky to use. Having a leap attack that only hits one target is just weird to begin with. Being unable to leap at targets right next to you but still hearing the leap attack sound probably indicates a bug, which means it was probably left in an unfinished state, which is evidence that it actually wasn’t left in a place they felt was “perfect” or even good.
The attack would be dramatically better if changed the way I described.
So many skills need a bump up. If I had to pick one it would be Frozen orb. It is a cool skill that just needs a little love. Would like Bow skills to get some more synergies too.
