Buff Lackluster Sets for Patch 2.5

Thanks for the update.

Bul-Kathos’ Children

  • Add +5 Double Swing (1 Item)
  • Add +5 Frenzy (Full Set)
  • Remove Knockback
    • Knockback must be removed to make set viable. You can’t use Frenzy with this two-sword set because of this effect, making for a slow kill speed. This set could also really benefit from bonuses to Double Swing and Frenzy (very fitting for two-sword set)

I propose “ x% chance to renimate as: Ancient”

Talic Korlic or madawc. Lasts 15 sec

Trang-Oul’s Avatar

  • Add +30% Faster Cast Rate (Full Set)
  • Fix bug that increases casting delay in vampire-form resulting in slower casting
    • Trangs needs more FCR to be viable

Would make the oskills fully synergized

That would be sick lol. Bul Kathos in the lore is supposed to be a legendary Barbarian, it sucks this set isn’t one of the best ones in the game.

Not enough to make it end game gear worthy, which at the level of Heaven’s brethren is what it needs to be.

Nah, that breaks too many things.

Instead allow Leaf to be made in a wand, and give Trang’s enough fast cast to cast faster. That’s really all it needs.

I would still like to see the developers add a full-set bonus of crushing blow (around 20%) to Heaven’s Brethren.

Heaven’s Brethren doesn’t have any gear piece bonuses either. It shouldn’t be too difficult to make some. And I am talking about the items gaining individual bonuses for wearing x amount of pieces. Same with BK (understandably as it’s only 2 pieces) Hwanin’s, Disciple’s, Orphan’s Call… Let me know if I missed any that weren’t affected by 2.4.

Oh yeah no, it was a step in the right direction but it’s still a horrible set especially considering the level req of 81 to complete it. I agree.

The life leech is nice and so is the damage reduction, the fire damage is a joke though. Would need to be like at least 6 per level to actually be decent (414 fire damage at level 69 which would be the minimum you could use that bonus) or something like that.

Every piece of the set has pretty lackluster stats, and no set bonuses on the items themselves. The weapon is terrible of course, which is a problem with many sets in D2. It needs some ED%, increase the max dam/level scaling, and/or crushing blow or something.

I like the crushing blow idea, it makes sense for a mace. I think Charles idea of having it a full set bonus is a good idea, but I think 20% would be too little. 40% would be cool I think.

More than just needing better stats, it needs some kind of flare. Something that makes it different and special. At end game you are either min/maxing or playing with style points, so give some style points. This is what I came up with based on the names of the items in the set:

Hwanan’s Majesty is actually a reference to the same Korean legends. But the solution for that set is much easier, the base for the weapon ought to be a Yari. A spear, not a polearm. Then suddenly an Amazon can use it and it starts making sense.

It’s also more thematic because a Yari was actually used in Korea, but a Bill is a European polearm, not an Asian one.

That’s interesting, but thought Yari is a Japanese blade, not Korean. Anyways, changing to a spear would be a good change so Amazon’s can use Hwanan’s Majesty.

Tread lightly with the buffs.

You don’t want to turn this game into a Diablo 3.

Yes sir, completely agree. If you think anything is out of line, please let me know.

Yari is the Japanese name for a certain category of spears, one of the most common which is a three pointed spear (as depicted in the game graphic). Of course, this same type of three pointed spear was used throughout east Asia, including Korea. In Korean it’s called a “dangpa.” Europe also had a three pointed spear, the trident, but they have very apparent differences in design.

Similarly, the Bill is an English polearm, but variants were used by other European countries, such as Italy, were it is called a “roncone.”

Speaking of the English Bill, the polearm was derived historically from Roman farming and specialized for cultivating grapes. Always comes back to wine production

Great list!

I’d like blizz to REALLY make a push to enable non-sorceress classes viable for early ladder MFing.

I’d add like +100-+200 MF on aldurs, Nats, and Marvinas sets. This way chars would use them to MF and could buy them for cheap. Ideally this would break the paladin/sorc/barb MF meta a bit.

I thought this would be a good addition to the OP based on your feedback…

Aldur’s Watchtower

  • Add +100% Magic Find (Full Set)
    • Adding a new full set bonus to magic find would give characters more options to MF. This complements the partial set bonus of 50% Magic Find

Aldur has 100 MF as a partial set bonus right now. In my 2.5 topic I move it as a Complete Set bonus to make room for bonuses to Attack Rating to bolster its effectiveness as a SS set. M’avina also has 100 MF for Complete Set. Only one that doesn’t have MF is Natalya’s and honestly MF is arguably an afterthought for me given that PTopaz in Natalya Armor/Helm + Nagels = gobs of MF for Natalya users. I suppose if I were to add it, it’d be a Complete Set bonus but again it’s not a must have in my book.

Yes, M’avina’s has a full set bonus of 100% MF, but Aldur’s partial set bonus is only 50% MF. I’m proposing an additional 100% MF as a full set bonus for Aldur’s, for a total of 150% MF.

Aldur is 50 partial + 50 complete = 100% overall. When I was overhauling it, I combined the two. So you’re proposing a 50 MF buff? Eh… that might be a bit much given that Tal Rasha is ~230 with full set and not counting PTopaz/Ists socketed into Helm/Armor/Orb.

Yes. I think adding an additional 50% MF to Aldur’s could give more options to magic find.
