Anyone having the same issues? Not sure if its an issue or just the game design itself. When I start running the whole background starts blurring, its like a motion blur but my character stays crisp and clear. Not sure how to explain it. If so, has anyone found a fix?
Yes, I was experiencing the same issue. I even posted about it. Your main character is fine, but as soon as you start moving the edge of the screen start to go blurry.
yeah seems kind of annoying. I thought I needed new glasses. lol It doesn’t happen with other games.
I have exactly the same issue. While moving there is like 1milimeter blur. When i stop moving, everything gets crystal clear again as it should be.
Is that some PC setting/Monitor setting that need to be adjusted?
You may have monitors with lower refresh rates? Your character stays centered on the screen so it is less affected? Or maybe low FPS?
I had the same problem and in my case it was the sharpening tool that caused it.
Lower it a bit (40) worked for me.
i think its something to do with the monitor settings. i tried on a lower quality monitor and it worked fine
Not really, I have a 144hz monitor and fps range is 80 to 100. I’ll try tinkering with the settings until I get a fix.
High refresh rate monitors can “smear” a little bit sometimes at high frame rates, especially when there’s a static image panning across the screen. Since there’s no perspective to the game, the backdrop does effectively look like a static image panning around sometimes.
There’s something online called the “UFO test” you can look up, it recreates the effect for testing purposes. Not saying that’s the problem, but maybe. It’s the same thing as when you move your mouse cursor fast and you see a trail. On lower refresh rate monitors, you actually see fewer copies in the trail. On higher, you get more copies and it looks more like a continuous smear.
Again, no idea if that’s what you’re experiencing or not. But it might just be the nature of your monitor and the fact that the remaster runs as smoothly as it does.
Your explanation actually makes sense. Maybe that’s just how it is
.
Yeah, I actually saw that too. On my big TV the character’s feet got kind of blurred while running. On my work monitor, it actually run without any visual problems.
Yep. It happens to me too on my 144hz monitor. Since it’s caused by bright pixels becoming dark pixels quickly (and vice-versa) and the monitor not responding to those stark changes fast enough, you can slightly alleviate the appearance of the issue by lowering the sharpening setting in-game since that will smooth out the contrast. If you crank sharpness up to 100, you can see it get much worse.
I just bought D2R when it went on sale. I bought it at release but it wouldn’t run on my old computer. I’ve since bought a gaming laptop (need a new laptop for a while just got a good deal on a Zephyrus G15).
When I first got into the game I went to setting and set everything to max (GTX3070 GPU) and it looks wonderful but I did notice the blur while running. I went in and tinkered with the setting and found that setting call RESOLUTION SCALE was the issue. I had it set to 200 thinking more is better but it’s not. I reduced it to 100 and everything looks fine running now.
This setting says: Controls the internal resolution of the game as a percentage of the output resolution.
Not sure why that is even a thing but give it a try and see if that fixes it for you.
does it do it with vsync on as well?
im not getting any motion blur but theres a mini hiccup everytime i switch direction
*neat necro
I’m afraid this is more a general problem with most today’s LCD screens(=IPS, VA and TN) than some specific problem with D2:R.
Especially VA - vertical alignment technology, but also happens with IPS. TN screens suffer the least from this (from the LCD group), but these have very bad viewing angles and colors. A good IPS screen is the best compromise imo.
I would avoid VA screens for gaming. These type of screens have great contrast and high refresh rates but suffer from motion blur the most. Can be fine for movies, but for long gaming sessions, it will hurt your eyes.
It’s a shame that old CRT screens and plasma technology had smoother motion than modern screens. Only OLEDs can match that to an extent, but these are again bad choice for gaming, as the static picture from game interfaces will burn in 1-2 years of intense use and the lifespan in general is quite low.
