Blizzard's policy on duping?

what is the official blizzard policy on duping items? If the same old dudes start doing it, will they take action?

It’s a punishable offense if one is caught intentionally duping via any method, be it an exploit and/or by hacking.

If you are a source of dupes, you will probably have action taken against you. If you receive duped items, they will be cleared away when the server checks for dupes or you collide with someone else’s items with the same ID.

(That last statement was how it worked in D2 classic, we don’t have formal details about it on D2R)

I’m interested to see how this plays out. I wonder if it’s even something you can do easily like you used to in old D2.

And with the new battle net, and the improved ability to spot dupes, I do see it as much less of an issue. Thank goodness…items like SoJ can go back to being an awesome and rare item instead of an exchange commodity.

A dupe method was discovered in the alpha and reported, so there are likely other methods to be found out there. I am fairly certain the one found in the alpha was fixed though.

if WOW can’t have dupes, there’s no reason D2R will have dupes. I think it’s a HUGE deal if we don’t have dupes in this game. We will get to see the true economy of D2.

The end point for nonladder is the same whether dupes happen or not. The game will be flooded with every item and values will plummet. Will take a lot longer to get there without dupes though.

lol what? exploit cheating? ban ban

Isn’t there a server side validity check on every single item that’s generated in online play?
I’ve noticed the system conducting checks when buying potions & scrolls from vendor.
The check also kicks in when you identify items.

I’m guessing duping will be more difficult because of this. Botting on the other hand…

Blizzard’ss policy on cheating, duping, exploits:

You are responsible for how you and your account are represented in the game world. Cheating in any fashion will result in immediate action. Using third-party programs to automate any facet of the game, exploiting bugs, or engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating.

I hope you’re right my friend, i really do. It’d be quite a sight to behold.
