D2R is a final product, it’s already finished. Otherwise they should have released Diablo 2 Remake. It’s a remaster. At least that should be the idea.
Yes, there were changes, many changes. As a remaster, this shouldn’t have happened. If it was really just a remaster just the graphical enhancements and porting to other platforms would be enough.
From the moment they started changing the game, players will suggest, charge, hope for improvements and new content.
Unless Blizzard puts an end to it by stating that there will be no more news, or explains what its plans are for D2, players will continue to expect something new, frustrated that their expectations are not being met, complaining everywhere, fighting with each other.
All this because the company opened the door for us to question the product.
None of us know what to expect anymore. A position or clarification on this would calm the community.

No this is blizzard’s fault. They made it to where modders cant modify the game for online play like PD2. The players have expectations on how the game should be changed and if the devs cannot meet those expectations then they need to hand over the reins and allow online modding.

Any sort of modded multiplayer will never happen officially with D2R, just gotta wait for the underground scene to pop up…

I don’t understand why they did so little. Would it have killed them to update a few uniques, allow runewords in a few more bases, made one or two new runewords for the season? Where are the promises of continued updates every 4 months. This is one of my favorite games and I spent money on the remaster because they promised me new content a few times a year. Did they not make enough money to hire a small team for this game? I am honestly confused how a triple platformer is failing to bring in enough revenue to merit like 6 guys in a cubicle tweaking 25 year old code. Why are modders able to rework the entire game and we get a mid season patch update meant for an entire season. It is honestly embarrassing for Activision-Blizzard that they can’t manage their resources better on a flagship title. If nothing else, diablo 2 is the best advertising source for diablo 4 they could ever hope for. But if this is going to be an indication of how they are going to maintain their games and promises I think it is going to steer players away from future titles and any investment in d4 in the long run.

The worst thing its bug fixes. They only release bug fixes when a new season comes.
I played Bow Sorc in ladder 1, then ladder 3 they fixed the enchant skill not applying damage to ranged weapons. Sfrafe bug is another example.
They should fixes the game with small patches along the months, and then maybe when a new season comes, release new content. But not hold bug fixes for ladder reset.
The lack of communication is the real problem.
I don’t mind this 2.7 patch with very little of substance in it, if it comes with an explanation as to why. Is it because they don’t want to steal any thunder from D4? Is it because they are ramping down D2R patch development? Just be transparent with us. If we shouldn’t expect much more, just tell us, or if there’s still a lot to come, please give us a roadmap. It doesn’t have to be concrete, but let us know what features/updates/additions you are investigating/thinking about.
I play a lot of other games where the developers provide a list of the most requested features. Elite Dangerous is a prime example. With D2R, I’m yet to see anyone employed by blizzard even acknowledge what the most requested features are, but I’m sure they’re things like loot filters, stackable runes/gems/etc., more stash tabs/space, etc. Can we expect any of that? None of that? Just tell us.
Surprises are nice, but leaving players in the dark about the future of their favorite title is not the way to go.
Hype, justified or not, followed by disappointment, is a killer for player enthusiasm.

Yes.
D2R it will have bug fixes?
D2R it will have some QoL that has been requested by everyone since D2 exists?
D2R it will have balance updates?
D2R it will have new endgame contents?
And more…
I feel like they’re just doing random stuff, not following any logic.
NHD is an example of a change that should have had a PTR to test.
For me D2R is over for now.
Outside of D2, I will never play any Blizzard product again, and I bought and played D4, Immortal, D3, Overwatch, WoW.
Who knows D2 will join this list too…
And things could get even worse with aquisition Activision Blizzard.
And people think d4 good lol. Wait till they get a load
D2 fanboys are the only people who actively ask for devs to kill their own game

While it would be cool to see a road map, the fanboys here would just hate on it for no reason anyway, so can’t really blame them for not getting involved with that
There are good changes to be made, then there is half baked crap like Sunder Charms and Mosaic…
The issue is they just shove the half baked crap through without a word…
Just like how anout any long time D2 player could do a better job arranging terror zones.
I’m not sure I’ve seen any fanboys around here, just hateboys.

Your kind of right, but OG D2 had a large mod community, and powerful tools to do it. D2R kind of removed all that so new things are just limited to what Blizz adds.
A lot of OG D2 players were playing mods IMO to keep the game fresh. No one though wants blizz rewriting D2 into a D5 so id rather they not make major changes.
ya we’re slowly not becoming fans… watching them burn down your favorite game is kind of rough.
at least there will always be LoD … too bad we can’t just play d2:r LoD mode…
i bought 5 copies to play “the game you know and loved” and look at it now… just look at it… LOOK AT IT. … yup. that’s all i have to say.
to anyone who thinks these are improvements, just block me, we will never agree.
There’s a lot that can be changed in D2R with softcode modding. What they did take away is TCP/IP, that was a giant gut punch for mods.

I just want PD2 with D2R graphics, then I can die happy.
give me 1.9 d2:r this game is getting silly

Actually i think they realized that PD2 with D2r graphics could be a really competitor for D4 and they don’t want this. Also Senpai mentioned few times that some pd2 devs helped Blizzard with D2R so Blizzard 100% know about this mod.
And yeah lack of communication is the real problem.
When they released patch with Terror zones i once thought that this game could have bright future and this is not about was it good or bad but about some “new content” that we waited for 15 years, but now i have no expectations. If for example they tell us that they won’t develop D2r it would be fine too cuz i and many others won’t wait for patches like 2.7.
Huge dissapointment with this patch btw.
Yes it should, original game has flaws, remaster is good oportunity to fix them.

Resurrected definition:
Revive or revitalize (something that is inactive, disused or forgotten)
Annoying when people keep claiming this to be a ‘REMASTER’ its not called Diablo 2 Remastered, resurrection means to bring back what we love but to then REVITALIZE it such as polishing, fixing or new content.
