I’ve got 2 words for you: Acti Vision. Corporate greed. Lack of respect for customers.
Hey, that’s in fact quite a few more than 2 words. Ah, well.

I would say two things.

Activision, and WoW.

One brought sleezy suits, the other formed a serious ego.

They’re no longer a small indie company. They’ve become greedy like every other tech giant. It’s quite simple really. They no no longer listen to the input of the devs. They give a timeline, if the game isn’t rdy too bad.

Good ol corporate greed. You’d think being worth 20 billion would sufficient. Who knew it wasn’t?

How can we double our profits this year!

Pretty much.

I bet there were 25x the players for the original LoD launch and we had basically no problems.

Now? Screw the customers because they already have our money.

I won’t be buying D4 because of this.

I’m sure the select few others that won’t buy it will make a huge impact on their quarterly report. I can guarantee there were NOT 25x the players of LoD than there are for D2R. Basically no problems? Did you play at launch of D2 LoD? Duping, bots, leveling hacks, all sorts of crap. Show me any proof of that with launch of D2R. Nah, y’all just can’t play MP. I’ve played single player D2 since release in 2000. Guarantee that I’ve had equally good gear, and equally as much fun as anyone else playing MP, or Ladder, at any point in the games history. Cry more.

Yeah. This pretty much. So sad to see. I really thought D2R would go differently. They sure fooled a lot of us.

I used to think Blizzard was like the pinnacle of what game developers could be. That they couldn’t release a bad product. Times have changed. They are still pretty good, but WoW has become a bit stale, D3 was average at best (for me, at least), and then they had poor releases for WC3R and D2R…and then, of course, all the lawsuits. I think From Soft is my new Blizzard, personally.

Simple, really. Their priority is now making games be inoffensive for anyone. Great? Nah, that’s not important. What’s important is that no one thinks that they are masogynist, h…ophobic, transphobic, racist and any other type of perceived offending behaviour. Look at WOW. They spent time and effort changing semi-scantily clad pics on paintings in the game, they got rid of certain emotes that could be construed by a few overly sensitives to be … umm… insensitive? However, their patch content is dogs…t. They spend time and effort, they pay their programmers to do rediculous things. The company is trash. It has no talent to create new good IPs and the only thing they can do is to rehash old ones… and can’t even get that right. They are a dead company. ATM only brain dead, as the actual brains behind their success have left a long time ago. So, everyone is surprised that the D2R servers are a giant clusterf…k? It’s be surprising if they were not.
In the past, if I got banned for this post, I’d be upset. Now, I actually don’t give a crap.

Blizzard has been trash since they launched Warcraft 3 back in 2002.

Cute, but no. They’ve been trash since WOD, more or less. Hearthstone came out at more or less the same time and that was their last good effort.

it’s really hard to believe blizzard once had the prestigious title of “blizzard quality” it actually meant something. Nowadays i’m pretty sure thy’ve thrown that motto out the window.
